New humi project - maybe?

smoking with the snake doctor
I dug this old desk out of storage this weekend. It was given to me by my aunt when I was in the 1st grade - she found it at a garage sale. It was in pretty bad condition when she bought it and my dad painted the base and put a new top on it, so I don't think it has any antique value. I plan to replace or refinish the top, line the inside with Spanish cedar, add some weather stripping to create a tight seal and it should make a neat old humidor. Any advise or suggestions would be welcome.

As long as you completely line it I don't see any issue with it. What I would do however is either wax the inside heavily or put visqueen inbetween the lining and metal so as not to rust it from the inside out.

Good avise!
Even if possible move the hardware to the outside.

I truth I find it easier in most cases to build a humdor than to retro one.
But - there are object that can be beautiful humidors!
