Nice Afternoon with Kevin..

Kevin & I got together for some bagels, coffee & smoke today.
Our time was spent smoking a pair of Cuaba Salamone.
Not sure of their age, but a few years I think.
We never seem to run out of stuff to talk about.
He always smiles when the topic of his kids comes up -
that in it'self is nice to be around.
The cigar was a good 2 hours of Herbal & Floral notes.
The first inch holding a spice that gave way to a a few changes
in flavor along the 2 hour burning.
Our intent had been to do some fishing, but my back didn't really
want to be out in the cold & damp.
Kevin was kind of enough to leave a few cigars along with a pile of firewood he moved for me.
So now all nice & warm in the den -
Thinking what nice way to break up my day!
Thanks,
CC

To paraphrase Garrett Morris' Saturday Night Live Chico Escuela character, "Kelvin ha' been berry, berry goot to me."

I have never met him but talk to him often, nothing but a great person. Glad you guys had a good time.

Just got in - Loren thanks for the great afternoon. That Salamone was fantastic (I am looking forward to the Mag 46 in the next couple of days)!

It's nice to be able to spend 3-4 hours just sitting around and shooting the breeze and smoking with someone like yourself. Looking forward to the next get together - hopefully soon. I think the dogs will miss me too much if I stay away.

Thanks again, buddy - and damn that sturgeon was excellent!

Tell 'im, CC. It don't take much more than some good bagels 'n' lox to convert a guy, right???

Bloof,
I bought some nice smoke fished (aka Jewish Soul food)
from "Russ & Daughters" in NY.
If anyone knows this place it by far the best smoked fish
anywhere. There are other good places, but not better.
I had forgot about Kevin not eating fish.
The Bagel & Lox idea was set aside, but not without tasting the cold smoked Sturgeon.
I have to give props to kevin, even though he don't like fish he was willing to try 2 kinds, the Sturgeon & some Sable.
Sable is smoked Black Cod - My wife's favorite.
This morning I started the day with a nice bagel & Lox.
The lox was a western wild salmon cold smoked.
Just amazing!
I LOVE Fish, eating, catching, watching & dreaming of all 3!
Misa is running the marathon next week, so I was thinking
some fish oils would be a good thing.
What better way to get fish oil, than 4 types of salmon,
white fish &
a Sable.

I also figured it couldn't hurt me any

Yeaaahhhhh, SABLE, the BEST!!!

Russ & Daughters, huh? I know all about R&D, although I've never been in there. I'll tell you a funny story about R&D some day, over a cigar. If I live long enough and do some semblance of getting my life together, you and a couple other HCF guys, along with Vince, are tops on my list to meet.

Yeah folks, if you're ever in NYC, most definitely stop in at R&D, and not far away is Katz's Deli. Forget the Carnegie or The Stage Deli's, head downtown to Russ and Daughters and a stop at Katz's. Then, you can walk over to the west side, a weeee bit uptown and go to Astor Wines and Warehouse Wines, and check out some of the best prices you're ever going to see on a lot of bourbons and other things.

By all means though, don't forget the bagels and cream cheese before you leave town. You can have your bagels and lox on the plane back to Texas, or the Metroliner back ta Bahstin.

Uhhhh, but you'll have to get your plastic utensils from a flight attendant. Can't be spreading that cream cheese with your finger, y'know. Not kosher. :cryinlaugh: :duh: :duh: :help:

Bloof,
Your killing me!
I do Katz deli often - I was more a 2nd ave guy, but since they closed
I eat ate Katz's & take home fish from mark's store.
Mark Russ is a really nice guy!
We make plans to go fishing every year, but floods & stuff get in the way. His daughter Nicky is nice, but doesn't fish!
I think I'll go have some Herring now!
Got to Love it!
