Hello everyone. My name is Brandon and as the title says I am new to cigars and to this forum. I would like any tips, tricks, or hints to having great taste and the best way to cut light and smoke a cigar. I am also wondering what are some really good cigars for not to much money. I would really appreciate the help guys and look forward to being a long time member of this forum.

Welcome Brandon ! If you look around this forum enough you will probably find the answers you are looking for. As far as cutting goes, it's a matter of choice. I prefer a punch when possible and a guillotine cutter when not. There's also the v-cut, but the best tip is to lick the cigar where you are going to make the cut to moisten it and reduce the likelihood of cracking on the cut. Best way to smoke is with friends and or something to drink. Lighting is not a big thing, but they say you should toast the foot first and then light and purge a bit. There are some tutorials on line. Really good cigars are expensive, but there are some pretty good ones that can be had for $ 2-3 if you know how. Our "Sunday morning smoke" guy has a cigar shop and he likes a Don Carlos #3, but he also smokes Bahia maduros which is much less expensive. Everybody's taste is a bit different and you will have to find out what you prefer on your journey. You can buy your cigars from a cigar shop, where you can get some advice or on line where you may get a better price if the shipping doesn't get too hefty.

Ok thank you for your helpful tips. Right now i have some really nice sticks that I have bought from my local B and M store. tell me if these sticks are any good or if i am just falling victim to up sales from the store. I have a Liga Pravada ( i think a #9), undercrown, opus x xxx, opus x fuente fuente, arturo fente sungrown, arturo fente king b, my uzi weighs a ton, and some xicar hc medero. I am really looking for like a full body stick that has a lot of flavor.

Those are some top flight sticks with perhaps the exception of the hcs. If you want full bodied sticks another suggestion would be LFD's (La flor dominicana) or Ashton VSGs- but they are somewhat expensive. I've only smoked one LFD and it was quite strong, but still a smooth smoke. Have more on hand to try this spring. I prefer full flavored smokes that range from mild to strong, but some really strong smokes without flavor are not my cup of tea.

How much would a box of good cohibas cost me that are not that aged? I would not mind having them and aging them myself.

All depends on size and quantity, anywhwere from 250-1000
