Chicago Born/Raised. Hollywood CA Resident
Alright, well I don't think I'll have the Op to log on until the 15th....

I will be down in New Orleans for business then Pleasure -

I'm going to take detailed notes and smoke my arse off!
and give a full report when I get back!

Take Care everyone and I will talk to you all again soon!!!

That is not fair. You get to go and smoke cigars all day and call it work :(

I had a great time in New Orleans last January. Found the New Orleans Cigar Factory in my travels, and it's a great spot. You can see the guys rolling the cigars right there. I brought a box home with me and savored it for a few weeks. I'm sure the temps are tough there right now (though maybe not as hot as Chicago!), and you should keep your head down in any storms. But have a great time, Smoka!

Managed to spend some time today with Alex and 'smoka at RTDA. Great guys and great times.

Don't know if they'll be checking the forums during the show, but a big thanks for hooking me up a few Cusanos.

For those interested, I put up some pics of things we saw.

Nice pictures Hydra. I have been looking for the Fuente dvd. Famous Smoke Shop sell it but it is out of stock. I'll keep looking!

Oh god! I've got to get some of the stuff with Michael Godard art on it. Do you know where I can go to order it or can you find out? Any help at all here would be appreciated. This guy's work is great although he certainly is an odd looking fellow. I have a painting of his on the wall at my office called Martini Limbo. For anyone that has not seen his stuff, here is a link to his site, http://www.michaelgodard.net/. Also, here is a picture of the painting that I own.

We managed to try two new cigars: The La Aurora 1495 Series and the Torano Virtuoso.

The La Aurora was a nice medium-bodied cigar with a sweet aged flavor.

The Virtuoso was incredibly well-constructed, but a bit light for our tastes.

Thanks USMC. I have actually looked through that site before but I don't mind looking through his stuff again. I love his paintings. I want to buy some more but I just don't have any place to put them in my house right now. Eventually when I move into a bigger house I am going to keep one room for myself as an office and a smoke room. Then I will have plenty of space for his paintings. Of course I'll have to get them protected first if myself and others will be smoking in there.

You will definatley have to get them protected. My dumb ass hung an $800 Thomas Kinkade painting in the living room, where I sometimes smoke. My wife wants to kill me every time she catches me. Thomas Kinkade also autographed the back of it which makes the value go up more.

I have turned my office into a smoke room, not that big, but it works. I am trying to find some "cigar art" to hang up on the wall, but havn't found anything yet. I'll admit I do like the Cohiba & drink art by Michael Godard, which I have you to thank Calibus!
Right now I just have pictures of my friends and I enjoying our cigars when we were in Iraq.

Definately. I am not about to spend $1500 or whatever it ends up costing on a painting and then ruin it by getting tar on it. Especially not one of his which should continue to go up in value and especially not the one I have because it is a limited print.

Also, I was just randomly looking through his page and came across the humidors and the one on the page actually has one of my favorite paintings of his on it, Praying for Seven. I am going to call tomorrow to find out the price. I gotta get it. The picture is below. Notice how the flames makes a seven and directly above that the smoke forms a $.

That is nice. I was looking on his website for a while last night. I might be interested in getting something now!

Yeah, he has some very nice and amusing paintings. And lots of them are perfect for cigar smokers.

Yeah, the smaller prints are pretty nice but I have no idea on the cost. The one I have which is a full size canvas painting was about $1000 and that was on a cruise where the art auctions are very good and the beginning bid price is very low. The suggestions gallery price at the time I purchased it was about $1400. There was also a smaller print that they were offering for a starting bid of approximately $250-300 but I couldn't tell you the size. I do know that it was not a canvas though.

This is great. Pretty soon everyone in the forum will be owning some of Godard's stuff :D

Also, for anyone interested, I called on the humidors that have the paintings of Godard on them and they are $450 plus shipping. I forgot to ask the size but judging by the picture I would assume they hold about 100 sticks. Pretty expensive but worth it if you like his art. Anyone who wants to order or get more info can call 1-866-278-2687.

Bob, they are selling $20 Michael Goddard art on ebay, it is not the big canvas art like Calibus owns, but it is nice decor!
