We all know the more expensive cigars that we all like to have. My question is what are some of your more inexpensive favorites? I see a lot of cheaper smokes in the catalogs I get and online. I hate to waste my money. What are your favorites in the $1 to $3 range?

Good question and nice avatar! Some inexpensive favorites of mine are Consuegra (AKA Connie's, which are supposedly seconds of Punch, Hoyo and El Rey Del Mundo), Padron Fumas, Flor de Oliva and cigar.com's Cuban Label. Each one is a great value and I always keep some around.

Thanks Axe.

I have some of the Honduran Primeros that I smoke regularly. I have also tried the Padron Fumas and the AF Curly Head Deluxe Cameroon and Maduro. I also keep some of the AF Exquistos and Cubanitos on hand but I don't consider them a regular smoke. I have been considering ordering some of the Flor de Olivas.

FDO's are really good. The original blend is around $1.20 a stick.

FYI, Consuegra's ARE seconds to Punch, Hoyo, and the like. They make a great yard cigar, or anytime you need a decent cigar that you don't really care if you get to finish or not.

For right around $3 a stick I've always liked La Unica, I prefer the maduro over the natural. It's a Dominican bundle made by Fuente.

These are just my opinions of the more inexpensive cigars. I know I am going to get some *&$# for some of these.

Good:
Any Cigar.com label (particularly cuban, purple, and cameroon)
sol cubano (any wrapper)
any of the flor de oliva line

Moderate:

Honduran Primero
5 vegas
danli reserve
fuente curly head
montesino napolean grande (fuente)
savoy by ashton

Bad:
Don Mateo
Padron Fuma
Anything from thompsons

I was just wondering about the padron fuma. I read on cigar.com that it was made from the TRIMMINGS of the higher end padron cigars. Does that mean this isn't a long-tobacco cigar (rolled from single pieces of tobacco) but rather more similar to a machine made cigar?

Pretty much; they use the pieces that are left from making the "firsts". That could mean very short pieces, and it could mean medium length pieces!

=\

Kind of glad I didn't order that box of fuma's!! I think I'll just stick to the P3000's.

they are hand made though, and they are good. Fumas are the cigar the padrons started out with, i love them. I think back to what it must have been like when they started while im smoking them.

Macallen bashed them, now I have to come to chicago so we can box :D
For all of you that don't like fumas i would be happy to dispose of them for you.

This is why I said I would catch crap for it.

A lot of people like Fumas and padron is a great company. Just not my cub of tea. I would recomend peple try them but they turn me off.

Another great cigar I had not thought of that is boardering that inexpensive price range is the Oliva O Classic.

Robusto rated 90 in CI and 92 in CA this week. Amazing for a box of 25 cerca 80.00

I bought a few Fumas last week because I was curious after reading someone's recommendation for them. For the price, around $1.90, I think they are a decent everyday smoke. I probably prefer the Curly Head at about $0.30 more.

Like everyone else I have a humi full of sticks in the $4 to $10 range, but I'd rather smoke 1/2 a decent stick that costs less than $2 on the ride to work and home than one that costs twice as much, or more.

I have recently been smoking the Consuegra #17 as part of my everyday cigar rotation. Around a buck a stick and it's a decent smoke. Just ordered a bundle of Consuegra #9 Rothschild.

Flor de Oliva Grand Cameroon

I second the Flor de Oliva line. At just $3 a stick, will be hard pressed to find another like it. I just finished smoking one to the nub. First cigar in my young cigar life that I did so. Great draw and burn, nice mellow, smooth taste. First box pressed cigar I've had and really liked it.
