OK, what's up wit dis?

seeds - well it's the soil that makes them so good!

Everyone has used seeds from Cuba.
There have been some changes in the strains used to grow
tobacco.
So in that there maybe something, but they need to grow them in the homeland!

Funny - why call tobacco from the Costa Rican Mountains :
"Your First Taste of a Real, Pre-Castro Cuban Cigar"

Marketing scam - IMHO

LOL!!!

Good tabacco can be grown in Costa Rica...different, but still good. I love small, upstart companies that sell direct...but I hate silly marketing aimed at the uninformed. That paired with their high prices scares me. Not a great way to try and start something big.

I ordered a 5 pack sampler from them on October 20. I still have not received them. They keep telling me due to the hurricane's things are moving slow. Some have started to recieve their packages. When I get mine I will let you know.

One of the local Tinder Box stores has signs up in their humidor that say "Ask about our legal Cuban cigars." Everytime I see that I just want to smack the person.

There's a shop here in San Francisco that has a sign outside which states "Genuine Cuban Cigars." What they fail to mention is that the only thing Cuban about them is the on-premises cigar roller who makes them. :duh:

Most likely Paul's cigars called Pinar.
I know Paul & have told him to his face I think he is "FOS"
He claims to have founf a warehouse of pre-embargo tobacco
that was tored perfectly for 40+ years -
long story that goes with his claims -
but n matter what or if the story is true, his cigars suck!

I do believe he made a lot of money selling them - but!
I just won a contest for a box of his cigars.
NOt the Pinar, but what ever they were I wasn't going to smoke them.
I asked Paul to ship them to a soldier friend in the sand box.
I figure any cigar is a good cigar if you stuck in the middle of nowhere!

These guys just did an interview in Pearlmans I believe. The story was intriguing but noting really cuban about it.

Loren:

I think I had one of those in the smokeshop in Lafayette - they advertise that it is cuban leaf that was found. It wasn't a good cigar at all - I knew it was bs but I just had to do it. It was pretty pricey if I remember too.

I dropped some dough on a few of those "Pinars". I put one in a previous box pass here. I still have a couple. After hearing CC's opinion on these, I am offering a replacement cigar to whomever got stuck with that...thing. 'Smoka, did you get stuck with that? Whoever did, let me know if you want a replacement, I am still learning!

Just remember folks, whenever you see the phrase "pre-embargo," think . . .

PRE-EM-BULL-GO!!
