Lost in translation
Well this past weekend was not fun at all. I have had a wisdom tooth that has been kinda bugging me for the past couple of weeks but nothing too bad. I was menaing to get a dentist appointment but with working two jobs and helping out the family I usually don't get to taking care of myself until there is a major problem. Well on Saturday night after consuming 20 or so advil' s and it not helping the pain I decided to go to the emergency room to get some help. All they could do was give me some pain meds and antibiotics to help the infection. Sunday was not too bad, until about 8pm at which point two percoset at once was not helping the pain. I took a sleep aid to get some shut eye and hopefully go to work the next day and then see a dentist in the afternoon.
Come yesterday morning when I went to take my shower before work I had found that my equilibruim had left my body and I almost fell and hit me head on the tub. I crawled back to my bed to try and recover, but there was no way I was gong to be able to drive to work. The wife call her dentist who was able to see me at 11am and they had no problem deciding that puling that tooth was a good idea. It was my lower left wisdom tooth. Well it left me kinda sore for the rest of the night but a couple of percoset and advils in the late afternoon ad dI was able to force down a burger and hit the hay for the rest of the night. I was able to get to work today but I am still in a good deal of pain. My mind is still a little slow from the pain killers which I am not too happy about, but at least I will be a little productive today and not a vegtable on the couch at my house like I was yesterday. Needless to say I will not have a cigar for a couple of weeks, probably until the end of December.
So the moral of the story is see your dentist often or you will be in a lot of pain at some point. The short amount of pain you feel when getting a cavity filled is much better than getting a tooth pulled or having a root cancal. See your dentist; they are your friends.

Dang Phish! Sorry to hear about that. Hope you get to feeling better ASAP!

Thanks Steve.
Sorry I have been so late but I hope to get your sticks out tomorrow.

Man O man!! I hear ya there. I did the same thing and I wish I had just taken care of the darn thing earlier. Like you, I pay the bills for the kids and my wife and the dogs and then worry about me. I floss and brush and floss and brush now. After the last $1500 I realized the pain was not only in the tooth but in the pocket as well. Lots to be said about the preventitive deal here. It was hard to look the dentist in the face as well. I knew I should have done it, he knew I should have done it, I felt like a little kid, LOL. Use Crest Pro-Health.....Good Stuff!!! Glad you're feeling better there Phish! :)

You speak great words of wisdom brother. Dentists are expensive and they can be a pain, but regular oral care is important for everyone. That is the only way small problems get caught while they are still small.

I hope you start to feel better soon!

3 days later and the jaw line and soft tissue in that area are still sore. Still some swelling but its getting better. I was able to eat a salad today without too many problems but I had to leave work last night while waiting tables. All of the chatter with my guests really aggitated my mouth and I couldn't bear it anymore. When talking becomes too much you know you have problems.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out about 4 years ago. They were so impacted I had to have my gums stitched back on. I could barely talk almost a week-and-a-half. And this was before I ever had problems with them; I just decided it was time to take them out.
