Well Thursday I took our black lab to the vet as we thought she might be pregnant. After a look over by the vet and a xray this is not the case. She has a Pyometra ( infected uterus ). My local vet thought said I should go see the vet in Ellsworth ( 2 hours away living in the sticks does have a few drawbacks. I took he Friday afternoon. She has to have surgery to remove her uterus basically fixing her with a bit more. I stayed at my mothers last night she lives about 20 min from Ellsworth and got the call about 1 that surgery was finished and she should be just fine. I am home but Megan will have to stay in the hospital till Monday as she in on IV antibiotics. The vet says her uterus should be the size on a finger it was the size of his arm.

Travis, I am glad to hear that the surgery went well and hope for a speedy recovery for her.

I like all dogs, but labs hold a special place in my heart. I wish your lab a full and speedy recovery!

I'm with capt. on this one. Labs hold a special place. Good luck bro.

We had a tiny little ferret with the same problem a few years ago. She weighed in at just over a pound. Imagine that little an animal with the ferret version of the infection!

She came through and lived several years longer.

Hence the name our dogs here are a huge part of our life and family. Sorry to hear of your gals troubles. The good thing is that it is a routine procedure and she should be back to fetching balls sticks and anything you might throw her in no time. I'll be praying for her brother and y'all!

Best Wishes

My best wishes for her speedy recovery. I'm on my second black lab now (Shadow). He is 9 mos old and solid muscle since he gets to run in the woods at least twice a day. Had two golden retrievers but after my first lab I knew there would be a second.

Hey Trav! Just wondering how your dog was doing? Let us know brother!
