Pumpkin Pie 'N' Rye. . . .

I actually found another bottle of The Classic Cask 22 year old rye at the liquor store inside Grand Central Terminal. Never shopped there before, they don't have much of a selection, not too talkative, not likely to be a regular thing, but the folks who carry the 21 year old at Beekman's don't seem to be aware there is a 22 year old.

So, for the "walk out price" of $75.98 I walked out of Grande Harvest Wines in GCT and right next door to The Marketplace at Grand Central, and they had . . .

PUMPKIN PIE, PUMPKIN PIE, IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE, PUMPKIN PIE, 'N' IF'N YA LIVE DOW SOUF IT'S PUNKIN PAH, . . .

but any way you slice it, don't slice mine, just give me a fork. The Zaro's concession had them, fresh made, first batch of the season, $9.95 apiece, got two, ate one waiting for the train to leave Grand Central to whisk me home, and now I'm heading for bed soon, enjoying sipping a two shot glass of my No. 1 rye, poured from bottle #149 of a 636 bottle run, batch No. RW108, distilled in fall of 1981, bottled in early 2004.

My first bottle, purchased last winter was from the same batch, bottle #249. As for how I ended up with bottle #149 the following autumn, don't ask, don't tell. This stuff makes my head hurt. I think I need to see my sensei, Master Whiskey 3rd Level, our own Hollow Point. :duh:

Hey Bloofie, ever have Amish Shoo Fly Pie? So sweet it makes the back of your jaw hurt.

I'm with ya Bloof. I friggin LOVE PUMKIN PAH!!!! Eat it all year, but 'specially in the fall and winter. Wonder food. :hypercolor:

Hey Dino, I remember a commercial from a few years ago on TV, maybe a car commercial, that had a woman singing in a deep Suthun accent:

Shoo fly pie, and apple pan dowdy,
makes your eyes light up, . . .

and then something went howdy, I forget what. My ex-girl told me what shoo fly pie was. Sure sounds like it can make your teeth ring. I'm not sure I'm up for that. I still have 29 1/2 teeth left, in mostly good condition, could use a little work, and I'm not into tempting Mr. Tooth Decay any more. If I ever see it I may give it a try, but to tell you the truth, The Little Pie Company of The Big Apple's Key Lime Pie's make my teeth ring quite enough.

Oh wait, it's ringing again. Hello, hello??? HELLO??????

Oh sorry, it's just my teeth calling long distance. Hey, what, me worry? I've got One-Rate service, it's included. :D

I think that was Diana Shore. See the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet... I never had it until recently. Not something I'd eat on a regular basis. Amish food is great though once in awhile. Sorta like Down Home Cookin'. It'll sure remind you that Col. Sanders wasn't no real Colonel!

Do you mean Dinah Shore, who dated Burt Reynolds when she was nearly 50 and he was 36? Remember those days? Wow, I'm old.

Yeah, Dinah, not Diana. I knew I screwed something up but couldn't put my finger on it.

Dutchess County Megadittos on pecan pie and sweet potato pie too. :pumpkin:
