RH of 65% vs. 70%

I've been reading on this forum that a lot of people recommend keeping your RH at 65% instead of 70%. Is there really that much of a difference in taste? I'm just worried my cigars will dry out or if it gets too cold, the humidity will drop too low if I keep it at 65%. Thanks for your advice.

CC, who posts here regularly (He's done the two 101's at the top) keeps all his sticks at a lower RH, he may be able to give you some first hand advice.

I believe it all has to do with your personal preference, some say cigars burn better at a lower RH, some like it at a higher RH. I recently went on a factory tour and in the aging room the cigars were kept at around 50%!! So it really isn't as sensitive as people think. I would say anywhere from 60-70% and you should be fine, just play around with it, see how you like your sticks to smoke and go from there. There are also humidifiers with sensors on them, if it drops below at set %, it clicks on automatically until it reaches the set %, so you can really control the RH, it may be something to think about. Right now in my cabinet, I have the top set to 65, and the bottom set to 70, I have the same cigars in both sides, so in about a month I'll smoke them and compare the two. That way I know what's best for me. :D hope this helps a little.

Thanks. I'm going to try it at 65% for a while and see how it turns out.
