Rotating stock

I have a 60 count humidor that is packed pretty tight, my question is, is rotating the sticks every now and then a good idea? I'm a little leary of over handling things and plan on letting them lie for some time.

If you're like me, you will rarely ever get to those sticks on the bottom of the humidor! Seems I always "reload" before I get to them. Therefore, they're the ones that are "well aged"!

You might want to rotate them every now and then, but I agree that handling them too much is much worse than worrying about rotation!

Just forget about the ones on the bottom for a year or so and then dig down and get one! Ummm! Well aged!

They will, but in a desk top humidor, it is still wise to rotate cigars once or twice a year. Without an air circulation system, humidity levels tend to be highest near the humidifier, and lower in the bottom of the box. If your hygrometer is reading 70% near the plastic casing holding the foam, it could actually be 65% or less just inches away at the bottom. Rotating these cigars will not only give them a more equitable opportunity for proper humidity levels, but keep you from forgetting what's down there. When your cigars are boring you, dig down and rotate that stock!!!

Most of mine are singles that I keep in my fridgidor in a desktop minus the lid. Thats packed to the gills but usually when I send out a package I end up laying them all out so they do get rotated inevitably. But I would like to get a few Staebell shelves to put in there...

Ahhhhh, Bob Staebell, the Rolls Royce of humidor makers, and a very good guy to boot. I wouldn't know personally, but a few friends, including DocBarry, stake their own names on his products and character. You get what you can pay for. If you can afford anything by Staebell, definitely buy it, because "the quality goes in before the name goes on."*

*(Editor's Note): I figure I can use that quote, because Zenith TV's suck nowadays, and they're not using it anymore.

I do rotate the stock at the shop weekly, but we have so few cigars there right now it will only take a few minutes, , I do open my "LONG TERM" storage to rotate the cigars twice a year, , that way I pull out one or 2 just to see how they are doing hahaha ! Enjoy, Vince
