Ok so i had one just now and to be honest i did not like it at all.
just cant describe it, too full of disappointment.

I'll just say it was a whole new kinda bitter taste high and dry...kinda, you can fell it at the top of the mouth..not full bodied and dont fell the spice..maybe i dont know the definitions

this is not a review or anything but....is this the cigar that seasoned guys can take?? I'm like new to this..maybe i jumped in too soon with this cigar

any input guys?

I just smoked one last night and realy enjoyed it. I thought it was full of flavor. Everyone has different tastes though. If you have a humi try aging it a couple of months and try another.

MALIM:

you say you are "new" to this so i will take a shot here...

how do you light and prep your cigars?

do you light a match or cedar or spark a bic or zippo?

do you take one of these and apply it directly on the
end [foot] of the cigar and start puffing like deisel train?

if so, this can RUIN any cigar right off the bat. it will be
sour and destroy the sweet tobacco for the whole stick!!

things can happen, even to the experienced! i was out on
the back porch the other night and the wind was blowing
off and on. i had my single flame torch lighter going and
because of the late day sun and the wind, i couldnt make
out the flame real well and at one point, when i thought it
toasted enough and i went to puff, the flame was OUT and
it loaded my cigar [a punch maduro] with the worst tasting
gass effect you can imagine!!

and it didnt matter. i let it sit. i blew out, in, and at almost half
way i ground it out. to saturated!

sulfur off a match touched to cigar to quickly can have a
wierd effect. it may go away after a bit, but the cigar will
just not be the same.

try another and pay attention to your lighting and see if
that makes a difference. sometimes i bad light can fool you
and you think the product is bad.

yes, everyones taste IS different, but, that shouldnt have been
a hidious smoke at all.

me thinks something is a foul here! bad light? dry stick? mold?
or the dreaded BOOTLEG!!!!! :x

i did use a torch, it was kinda windy but at night so i did see the flame. hate torches cause things can go down hill when you make a mistake

should i go with a flame one??

I bet if you ask what lighter do you use; 99 percent of the guys here use a torch.

I "think" what smart ash is saying is remember lighting a cigar is part of the process read this thread. it will explain a way that some of us use to light our cigars. remeber that a good Purge can clear the cigar. Gently blow out through the cigar, it will clear out all the built up gasses.

I love the RP Sungrowns. Matter of fact I am just finishing a Torpedo. Started out with a bang, nice spicy first inch or so the mellowed considerably. Last two inches or so it got that kick to it again. Peppery and zesty would be the two words that come to mind. Try another Malim and see what you think. It helps if you are a sungrown wrapper fan.

Oh yes, and I used a single flame torch to light it. Light carefully, wait about a minute and purge. Wait another minute or so and enjoy.

what you described is not what i got.It was bitter throughout.NO spice;depends on the definition of it though. was it a bad cigar??
i have no idea guys luckly i just had a CAO black bengal;this made up the dissapointment. maybe i need more experience.

Oh, im thinking of getting a box of corojos(c.com ones) will my bad exp with sun grown deter me?

I think these might be an aquired taste. I never really cared for them myself up until a few months ago and I'm a Rocky Patel whore. My advice is to set them down for awhile, try some other things and then come back to them.

I'm a Rocky Patel junkie, and I've smoke a bunch of the sun grown. I find they smoke better at 65% to 69% RH. If they are kept at a lower RH, I find they can be bitter. I also find that the sun grown likes to sit and rest in my humidor for 3 to 4 weeks before I smoke them. These are a fuller bodied cigar, so if your new to cigars, they may be a bit to strong for your pallet. Be paitent, and the sun grown may become one of your favorites.

I find the OSG to be bitter all the time. They are a good cigar, But I prefer the Sun Grown better.

Order the Corojo label, they are a very different cigar than the sun grown, and you should find them more enjoyable right away.

good luck.

I will never judge a cigar by smoking only one. I am with the rest of the gang when I say, let them rest a while - a couple of months would not be unreasonable, and then give it another try.

I also like the CAO Black, and maybe another one you could try in that line would be a Brazilia or Italia, both are very good cigars.
