I did a search of the forum for this libation, and found nothing. Anybody enlighten me on it? At $23 for a .750 ml bottle, I want an opinion or seven on it.

That's probably the newest release. They keep trying to step up the alcohol and flavor. It's something you sip like cognac. I used to drink the '93 or '94 release. I found it impossible to deal with an 11 ounce bottle in one sitting. I think that one was 17% or 24% alcohol. It was a great tasting beverage, but it wasn't beer and wasn't meant to be drunk like beer. Go for it Colonel, but don't drink it when you're looking for a beer with flavor and thirst quenching capabilities. This is something you sip a small glass of after a nice meal, and then put the rest away for a while.

I was kinda looking for a sipping beverage to go with a decent cigar. Thanks.

That's exactly what it is. Just remember, all bock beers, single bocks, double bocks and the Sam Adams triple bock have a tendency to be dry and malty.

Anybody know where I can get a bottle in Houston Tx?

I heard of this brew some time ago, but I have never seen a bottle in a store. I thought it should be interesting to try, I like beverages with real flavor haha.

Time for a little niggling...

SA Triple Bock, technically speaking, isn't a bock; it uses a top-fermenting yeast, thus making it an ale. I guess that would make it closer to a barleywine.

I have to say that I've never seen it in a 750ml, only in an 8 oz bottle. It's not bad; very malty with a cream sherry character. Strong, too, at almost 18% ABV. My preference, however, is Troegs Brewing Co. Mad Elf Ale.
