what do you guys know about the new sauza cigar made by drew estate? i bought one at the local shop a couple days ago but i can't find them online. she didn't know anything about it yet and had to open the first box she got for me. i guess i might have to smoke it and be the informer... but i was curious to see if i should keep it around for a while.

im getting some jack johnson ready now... guess i don't need a drink with this one?!?

this is the first review i have done other than saying good or bad but here is my best try....

Price: $10.50 not sure if i paid high or low since i have nothing to compare to
Presentation: Very nice.... wraped with nice labels and enclosed in corked glass

Well constructed, burned perfect throughout

before i lit it the cigar had a fairly sweet smell with a little kick to it.
the wood taste the cigar had sort of reminded me of the barrels that they put liquor in to age it. made me think back to the tour i took of jack daniels minus the jd smell.
the first half of the cigar was not up to $10+ dollar standards in flavor, two inches in it became very smooth and somewhat sweet. there was a slight liquor tingle to it in spots. the last 2 inches after the mid point were the highlight. it became more full and less sweet. had a wonderful aroma and very good taste for a mild to medium flavor. this is when i was really reminded of the wooden barrels. i was curious to see if it would have a real tequilla taste since i dont like tequilla but it did not at any point. i did not want to put it out after i reached the last 2 inches, although not real impressed with the first half.
i would give this cigar a 7.5 out of 10
or first half 6 last two inches 8.5

for the money i would not buy another one unless i felt like having the novelty of it in my humidor. it is worth a try should you stumble upon a decent deal on it.

I just finished my first Sauza (care of Bildo). It was very enjoyable, the words heady, smooth and pleasant all come to mind. I smoked it to the nub, it stayed smooth and tasty right to the end. I was a little skeptical due to some bad experiences with Drew Estate (Kahlua, which I thought was harsh and sickeningly sweet...and a La Vieja Habana that was sold to me as long filler but was not). This had no artificial flavor dipped wrapper but definately permeated with a deep and mellow flavoring. I probably broke all the cigar smoking and fine whisky drinking rules, but it was sinfully fun. Shortly after lighting the Sauza and getting through the initial onslaught of intoxicatingly odd flavor it calmed down and I proceeded to make a whiskey sour with my reliable Knob Creek. Yes, I know, wasting fine bourbon in a mixed drink!! AND THEN smoking a Tequila cigar with a strong, sweet bourbon. OK let the persecution begin, but man did I enjoy that hour.

Yes drew estate is hit and miss with me as well. I have a sauza but have not tired it yet. They just came out with a cigar called Java that is being made for indian tabac/ rocky patel. It is awful. Tasted like a hand rolled swisher sweet and they are funky shapped. Paper thin like a cracker. I am attaching an image to this psot so you can see what I mean. Thor and I felt like a couple of nancies smoking these things. I do love the kuba kuba though.
