Even though most of us will go on with our usual day to day activities today, we should not forget the terrible tragedy that took place 4 years ago. Let us not forget the brave men of the NYPD and FDNY for their heroic actions that took place that day. Also keep in mind the countless innocent lives that were lost and destroyed on this day.

When we think we have it bad sometimes, just think about the men and women in our military and public safety who are fighting to protect our lives and freedom every day of the week. My hats off to our Service men/women!!!!

Capt,

Thank you so much for this thread. I will never forget this day as I live 20 minutes outside of Manhattan and remember the black smoke and the smell was unbearable. I lost some freinds and so did my parents. All together, my town lost 22 people.

Two months later, I found myself in a fox hole in Camp Rhino before we took over Khandahar International Airport on Jan 1, 2002. I spent 8 months there, came home, got married, and then on Super Bowl Sunday of 2003, took off for Kuwait. I spent 9 months in Iraq, (the first two in Kuwait). I was getting my "payback" for the loss of my friends in NYC, but lost more friends in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Let's not forget that Capt is on the fire department, so once again, THANK YOU and thank everyone else in the forum who are in the fire department and in Law Enforcement. You are the ones on the front line now. You are the ones protecting everyone on a daily basis, working the long hours and working the holidays.

THANK YOU

Scott

Great words guys. And USMC, I still wake up some mornings with that smell haunting me. This day is always difficult for me so I can't really write much. I'll just say 2 things...my prayers are with the brave men and women of the armed forces, Fire and Police Depts. who risk their lives day after day for us.
And second...Mary, James, Chris, Steve, Petey, Bryan, Henry, Christopher, Joey and Michael...I miss you guys, you left way too soon...

Excellent post Axe. My thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Armed Forces and everyone that was affected by the tragedy of 9/11.

May The Lord bless all the true heroes in our society, and that's not the ballplayers, singers and movie stars. Thanks to guys like Capt, USMC and all those who have done, are doing and will do what folks like that do in their day to day lives. Underpaid, overworked, and rarely thanked.

May my ex-training partner and friend, Officer John D'Allara of ESU-2 rise to The Lord's Holy Kingdom on Judgment Day. May his family continue to have the strength to carry on and deal with their grief.

I lost no one in September 11th, and I lost everything! I think for everyone this day 4 years ago marks the day the our American innocence died. We are all much more aware of our enemies and our vulnerabilities! God Bless America and all of our brothers and sisters who have given the most anyone could possibly give, their lives defending this great nation!!

Never Forget!

Actually Eclipse, and I'm not trying to upstage you, but in truth America lost it's innocence on November 22, 1963. We lost our heart on April 4, 1968 and our soul on June 5, 1968. September 11, 2001 was the result of us long since having lost direction and authority.

A day to remember.

A moment to reflect.

People we will never forget.

Share your thoughts with someone.

Celebrate this day as a renewal of our patriotism.

I remember in high school when the Berlin Wall came down, when Communism fell in the USSR and it became Russia once again.

Pass on what you have seen and experienced with your children. Then one day they will pass it to their children.

One day my daughter will tell her children how their grandfather fought in Iraq to help them have a better life.

This is the past, the present and our eventual future.

This is history.

Semper Fidelis,
Jeff

p.s. USMC, we have spilled the same blood in the same mud...payback is never "easy" and the memories never go away. All we have is our Band of Brothers to help us along the way.
Semper Fi, brother.

I think this is the only post on a cigar board that ever brought tears to my eyes. I thank everyone who posted on this thread for the kind words for our Country's heroes. And for those who lost a loved one on this date, my heart and prayers go out to you.

Cappy...I watched that flight 93 movie on Discovery I think it was last night....Made me really friggin proud to be an American!!! To see those people make that kind of decision, and bring down that plane makes my heart swell up as well as my eyes. There are still true patriots out there, and America isn't all filled with fat, non caring hypocrites who care nothing about anyone else! We are still one nation and we still have some of the best people on Earth!
