Armpit of the world....Al Asad, Iraq
Ok. here are the after shots of my foot.
Kinda nasty.
The doctor told me that he had to do more than he had anticipated. He originally wanted to just re-adjust the second toe, re-fuse it and put a pin in the just the toe.
Turns out there was more damage than what he thought. He had to re-align the toe by cutting through A LOT of scar tissue, cut the tendon away from the skin (it had slipped from it's original location and adhered itself to the skin on the side of the toe) and sew it in place, align the toe and drill a pin through the toe completely into the foot.
PAINFUL!
It didn't stop there, he had to cut a wedge from the big toe and wire it away from the second toe so that it wouldn't interfere with the healing of the second toe.
Foot still hurts like hell. Probably will for a few more months.
The pin comes out in about 4-5 more weeks. That's gonna feel great when he does that. (note the sarcasm?)
Aaahhh......the life of a Marine.
Anyway, just wanted to share with you what I've been going through the last week.
See ya later!
