The perfect drink

Since I mostly smoke on the front porch, I'll be looking for hot coffee or tea in cold weather or iced tea or cola in hot weather. When I may have a cocktail with it, usually it would be George Dickel or Jack Daniels and water, although I like most any drink including beer and wine and most any liquor. The high tomorrow will be in the 30s again so I may skip the cigar as I did today - just not important enough to freeze my ash off for. If I may offer a suggestion for outdoor smoking in hot weather where a cocktail would be appropriate, try this if you like Tequila: buy some Mezcal. Take a tall apertif glass and fill with finely crushed ice. Fill with Mezcal and put a lime slice on it. This practically requires a strong Dominican 6x54 Maduro torpedo! I think you have to match the drink to the cigar - you don't want the drink to overpower the cigar. It's not as important if the cigar overpowers the drink. Strong-flavored drinks go with strong cigars. A good coffe or tea is great with a milder smoke. Now for the purpose of truly experiencing a fine cigar, only water will do, but I never do that - it's always some kind of flavored beverage, often with alcohol.

Coffee, preferably kona. No matter what I do like to have some water around it seems to clear the palet better. I do like it with beer. I am not much of a hard liquor drinker.

water. i drink water when i do my reviews for the reasons above.

.

that is the way to do it when I review a cigar , or the first time I smoke one, I just love finding the right coffee & the right scotch to go with any cigar, it might take 4 or 5 pots of coffee, a box of cigars & a bottle or 3 or 4 of some single malt, & when I find one set I like, well I just keep tasting & looking for some thing better , I have been stuck on the Don Carlos #3 with Kona on a Sunday morning for about 10 years now , still looking for some thing better to start the day with, & if its out there I wiull find it Some day hahahaha . The excitment is in the looking not the finding !

Enjoy, Vince

Ten years? I would say that combination has become institutionalized and is cast-in-stone! Sounds pretty good - I think I'll try that one.
