The Torano thread

I don't see much around here in regards to the Toranos, and their cigars. In my opinion one of the fine cigar makers out there for non-cuban cigars. Consistant and dependable good smokes. The Exodus Gold was one of my stand-bys for many years. I've lost my taste for them but am really enjoying the Torano Signitures right now. There is a wide range of products for the market produced by the Toranos to fit most budgets and tastes.

Their new cigar the Casa Torano was a disappointment. The construction is good, the blend is a total miss. Not far removed from rolled cardboard. I'm thinking they were rushed to production too quickly, although the blend was supposedly a long time family favorite.

A local tobacconist in Albuquerque sells a bundled cigars by the Toranos (at least rolled at the Torano factory in Honduras), that is a great value. A really good smoking cigar, consistant and well produced.

Mainly curios about thoughts on Toranos from the group. Are you'all smoking them? If not, might be a cigar to try.

Good thread. I am not a big Torano fan. If I smoke any at all it is rare but I would smoke the 1916 or the exodus silver. I am with you though NMCOWBOY on the casa torano. It was a belly flop as far as I am concerned.

Interesting thing about torano is that they have a very rich history in the industry. They produce some 20 million cigars every year and 75% of those are for other people. For instance, CAO, Gurkha, Alec Bradely and a host of others are all made by Torano. Funny enough I prefer all of those other brands to a torano. They need to take notes fromt he people they are making cigars for.

I'm with Mac on this, though I had tribute 2003 churchill last night while fooling around in the garage and was very satisfied with the quality and complexity or the cigar. Love the others that are produced by torano though, gurkha is still my number 1 smoke.

Macallan and I smoke too much together, we have very similar tastes...Torano isn't my fav choice smoke either...although I have found myself buying an exodus at pinch moments when on vacation and run dry...

Great family and excellently constructed cigars every time!

I have a few of the Exodus but I haven't tried them yet. The only one I did try was a Reserve robusto but there was something about the taste that turned me off. I have to say they do look nice though.

Just had one this afternoon on the my friend's suggestion, sadly I must have gotten the one cigar that Torano has ever made poorly. As much as I hear about their construction, my 1959 Silver didn't want to burn at all. Their Camaroons are good, and hopefully the next Silver Edition I get will burn so I can get an idea what they are like.

I agreed Casa Torano is a disappointment. 1916 Cameroon is another disappointment for me.

The only Torano I like is Exodus Silver, a tasty cigar. I have yet to try the Signature series.

Surprizing responses, I'd have expected that they were better liked than what is being said. What I'd consider a staple for NC cigar smokers.

Although I would still consider myself a rookie, I smoked a exodus 1959 torpedo a couple of days ago and I thought it was a very good cigar, had to relight a couple of times, but tasted great. I do think I have to step down to a robusto though, the torpedo lasted forever!!!
