uneven burn question

I just got a bundle of Free Cuba Toros about a week ago. Against my better judgment I lit one up today. I know I should have waited a few more so they could even out and not be so “fresh.” The taste was fine but the burn was just not good in any way. Could this be due to the lack of time in the humidor? I was under the impression that all the resting time did was smooth the flavor out; will more time in the good ol’ box even out potential burn problems?

YES!

Often cigars are stored to moist.
It is common for new cigars to need time -
as the proper RH is attained the cigar will burn better.
A cigar that is rolled a little to tight can loosen up in time.
If I clip a cigar with a tight draw I'll let it sit a year and try it again.

I have had that same problem from cigars that I could not wait to try, and after letting the others sit for a week or so they burned fine.

I saw the same thing happen to a fresh Tatuaje. But, I smoked one of my cuban label cigar.com's right when I got it (still very moist) and it burned perfectly. any ideas why that would happen? luck?

I'm a sucker for off the back of the truck smoking. As often as I do it they never burn worth a flip. After a couple weeks they always burn better.

The moisture could be uneven -
if there was a water pillow closer to a cigar and one side was a little damp???
