Hey everyone! It’s been a while, but anyway, here’s my story.

How’s this for sucks?

Yesterday I bought two AR-15 lowers upon hearing that they can be California legal by pinning the mag to the gun. So this is basically my first firearm purchase (even though it’s just a post), so I decide to celebrate the next day by buying and smoking a good cigar.

Okay… fast forward to today. It rained overnight, but the time is 5:00 and no rain so far. I go outside and look. Grey clouds with patches of blue.

A lil background - I just moved here spring semester and haven’t gotten out much due to school and lack of car.

Okay, I looked online for a cigar shop and I find one 2.5 miles down the road.

Okay, so I hop on my bike (I’m a poor college kid –no car- with a taste for good cigars. How’s that for screwy? :p) and it’s cold, but no rain.

I get there and it’s closed – outta business or something. Dark and all that’s left is a gutted out computer, some shelves, and empty cigar boxes… No…. way…

Okay, so I’ll find another place… I turn around and it starts POURING. So I ride 2.5 miles back home wearing my hoodie, khaki cargo pants, and suede shoes.

All this… and no cigar. What a bummer.

I'm pretty po' myself. But, a fine cigar makes everything all better. 8)

Even if the shop had been open, the prices would have been exorbitant.
CA taxes are unbelievable.

A Monty #2 runs about $25 - mail order, about $12

I don't know the last time I bought a cigar in a local shop.

It is the dedication that counts!!!

Ha ha! Yeah! 8)

Lambing, I'd mail order too, but I'm 20 and don't have a credit card. I learned about CC by watching people....

Too bad cigars.com won't take pay pal. Or can they... :poke:

Jason, I feel for ya, brother. But you DID move to San Francisco, and if there's two things they despise in San Francisco, those two things are guns and smoking. You have my sympathies.

Don't forget; any kinda of personal freedom. Wouldn't want to maybe, possibly, offend that one person who could be offended.

Yeah, CA laws suck when it comes to smoking and firearms.

I didn't like the idea of RE-registering my "assault" rifles and paying an extra fee because of the new CA laws a while back. The DoJ already has a copy of our purchase, but NO, we have to do it all over again.

As for smoking, I think another city has underwent another law passing that prohibits smoking in public. I can't remember the specifics or the city, only saw a blurb on the TV during a news commercial time.

i guess you could say you came close, but no cigar! nyuck, nyuck, nyuck...lol :cryinlaugh:

what happened with the gun ban in san fran? Please tell me that didn't hold up.

It being battled over in court, last I heard (I think... haven't been following closely).

I don't know what the outcome in SF is either. Last I heard was they were trying to ban ALL handguns in the city also. Isn't that great? Ban firearms to law-abiding citizens, and have the scums get theirs from the black market?

New York has some pretty tough laws if I remember correctly. Chicago just passed one barring smoking within a certain distance of entrances. Portland, OR did too. The laws are everywhere now, not just just CA. Illinois has a statewide bill under consideration now. I smoke at home and in my car so I don't care much. But the laws are in violation of equal rights so I don't see them lasting.
