Armpit of the world....Al Asad, Iraq
First and foremost I want to give a VERY BIG thank you to all of you that sent my wife and daughter cards and gifts for Christmas! I truly do not know what to say or how to repay you for your enormous generosity!

My wife was confused at first about whom or why she was getting gifts from people she didn't know. Now all she can do is sing praises for all of you. To be honest, I was a bit choked up when she told me what she received.
Chris tells me that he’s collected over 150 sticks to send to me and my fellow Marines! DAMN! You all continue to amaze me with your generosity and friendship.

Second I want to congratulate Dave on the great news about his wife’s pregnancy!
Looks like she got what she wanted, huh Dave? This is the beginning of a grand adventure called “pregnancy”. Be patient, be kind and most of all….be OBEDIENT!
Your wife will never be more beautiful than when she is carrying your child. (Be sure to remind of that EVERY DAY!) When you see your new child for the first time, you will know what true, unconditional love is. Be prepared for the ride of your life!
When I get home, I have a book I want to send you. It will come in handy when times get rough plus it’ll give you a good laugh.

Which leads me to…….
Looks like I will be coming home sooner than I had originally thought. Now I have orders to report back to Camp Pendleton first/second week of Jan. I’ll be having surgery (minor), recovering for 2-3 weeks then I’ll be back off to finish my tour.
Axe, I’ll be home for about a week before my surgery. Maybe I can make some time and get out to your restaurant for some dinner and a cigar. (or two….maybe three!)

Again, I want to thank you all for everything. You made a hard time for my family a little easier to bear.

Good to hear from you Jeff. For all you've contributed to the forum, and most of all, the country, I think this is the very least anybody could do. Stay safe and I hope you have an uneventful trip home.

Thanks Jeff - it's hard to explain how excited I am, but those of you with kids know what I'm talking about!

I do tell her every day! I'd definitely be interested in that book - thanks in advance!

How long do you have left on your tour? And why does Axe have to be on the WEST coast? Man - I want to check his place out too!

Glad to hear from you again Jeff - you, your wife, and your daughter are in our prayers!

Jeff, glad to hear you'll be back if even for a brief stay. After Jan 1st my schedule will change again so we'll plan something around that.

Dave, anytime you feel the urge to come out west, there will be a table waiting for you buddy!

Where in CA is your place at? My sister is in San Diego and one of these days (hopefully) I'll be out to visit her...

Dave, I am only a couple hours from San Diego, so I expect a call when you make it out there

Count on it! I'll definitely let you guys know whenver I'm able to put that trip together.

I'm in Temecula, which is a So Cal version of Napa. It's about an hour north of San Diego.

First off, thank you to Jeff. You're the guy risking your life to keep the rest of us free. Second, thanks to BaroChris for arranging the package to you. Third, the rest of you suck for living in such warm weather. I'm jealous, I want to go to Anthony's restaurant too.
