Armpit of the world....Al Asad, Iraq
First and foremost I want to give a VERY BIG thank you to all of you that sent my wife and daughter cards and gifts for Christmas! I truly do not know what to say or how to repay you for your enormous generosity!
My wife was confused at first about whom or why she was getting gifts from people she didn't know. Now all she can do is sing praises for all of you. To be honest, I was a bit choked up when she told me what she received.
Chris tells me that he’s collected over 150 sticks to send to me and my fellow Marines! DAMN! You all continue to amaze me with your generosity and friendship.
Second I want to congratulate Dave on the great news about his wife’s pregnancy!
Looks like she got what she wanted, huh Dave? This is the beginning of a grand adventure called “pregnancy”. Be patient, be kind and most of all….be OBEDIENT!
Your wife will never be more beautiful than when she is carrying your child. (Be sure to remind of that EVERY DAY!) When you see your new child for the first time, you will know what true, unconditional love is. Be prepared for the ride of your life!
When I get home, I have a book I want to send you. It will come in handy when times get rough plus it’ll give you a good laugh.
Which leads me to…….
Looks like I will be coming home sooner than I had originally thought. Now I have orders to report back to Camp Pendleton first/second week of Jan. I’ll be having surgery (minor), recovering for 2-3 weeks then I’ll be back off to finish my tour.
Axe, I’ll be home for about a week before my surgery. Maybe I can make some time and get out to your restaurant for some dinner and a cigar. (or two….maybe three!)
Again, I want to thank you all for everything. You made a hard time for my family a little easier to bear.
