I'm curious as to some good wine to try that mix well with your favortie cigar. I'm not very expierienced in the alcohol department.

Currently, My favorite smoke and drink is a romeo y juliet/anything with coke and amaretto. So good.

i dont like anything sweet with a cigar. i usually drink beer with a cigar, a good bitter beer with lots of hops. i dont care much for malts.

Well Boys, My favorite is a glass (or 2 or 3) of Vintage or Tawney Port with almost any Medium or Full bodied cigar. Of course I have been known to have 3 Pints of Guinness with a RyJ Churchill. Thats how long it takes me to smoke a RyJ Churchill. As a matter of fact, come friday night I will be in the Pub at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Dubai doing just that very thing, unless they have Kilkenny on Tap. For the mild cigars it really doesn't make much difference. They don't make any difference to a glass of water. I also like Knob Creek Manhattins with a full bodied cigars. Some people drink Scotch (why,I don't know anyone would drink alcohol that was flavored with dead plants) with cigars. The best part is figuring what YOU like best with a cigar. Getting there is all the fun.

Well, I am partial to the CAO Brazilia GOL when I'm just sitting around with a glass of dark rum. Now and then I will have Wild Turkey 101 instead of my rum.

My wife doesn't like wine unless it's some form of Ripple so I don't usually spend money on a bottle of wine just for myself.

I’ve been mixing it up but I did something last Sunday that sticks in my mind. My wife picked up a piece of some sort of chocolate fudge cheesecake thing Saturday night. On Sunday morning I brewed up a pot of strong French Roast coffee, scraped all the chocolate and whipped cream off the cheesecake and into a big mug, added coffee, some Grand Marnier and Kalua, than lit up a CAO Anniversary Maduro. It could have rained and I still would have been happy.

I recently tried a hemmingway with a glass of Barolo, which was out of this world. But that's for special occasions obviously.

On a regular basis I'd still prefer the old staple of a glass of scotch with my smokes. Johnny Walker, the whole rainbow... red, black, green, blue (never tried it with gold though).

Then recently on a cruise I got a bottle of Johnny Walker swing, which was a great scotch, very smooth. I haven't been able to find it anywhere in the states though. Anyone happen to come across this in their local stores? Deffinatly worth a try.

M2rx7, The Swing is one of my favorites. Macallan and I had some at a friends house while he was in town. Good luck finding it in the States, and if you do, its about $170.00 for the 750ml. I only paid 30.00 for it duty free. Drink UP!!!!!!! Ryan

PM me and Ill tell ya where you can order it......

Pretty much all I drink is Pepsi so that is what I end up drinking with my cigars. I used to drink Grand Marnier with my cigars but I can't do that anymore. Alcohol and morphine just don't mix very well (or too well depending on who you are).

I usually like a nice spicy red with my cigar. Coffee works, scotch or bourbon will do if the mood strikes me, but for me nothing beats a nice spicy red (note the "spicy", not sweet). A great big zinfandel will do; something bold, chewy, with lots of flavors, the way it should be (there are a good amount of bad zinfandels out there - talking about Reds even, forget that white zin sh&t). I'm thinking Cosentino Cigar Zin, a Ravenswood, Ridge. Along with a Rare Corojo, that will do just fine tonight for me!

Alright asica! I like the way you think! I am a HUGE red zin fan. And you're right about there being bad ones - I've had quite a few.

Another varietal you should check out is Malbec - it is another spicy grape mostly from Chile and Argentina. One excellent wine is from "Bodega Terrazas De Los Andes" - their malbec is one of my favorites. It usually runs about $16/bottle here in PA. A cheaper one that is still very tasty is called "San Telmo" - usually about $8 here in PA.

Thanks Cybrus - I've had a Malbec once or twice, I'll have to try one of your suggestions with a nice smoke this weekend. I don't think I've sampled any of those.

I usually either drink beer (guiness or some good german pilsner) or coffee (with or sans jameson's) when im smoking.

Made my first Manhattan last night and paired it up with a CAO Brazillia Gol. Definitely a match that I will see more of in the future.

All you Manhattan drinkers out there - what's your mix? Mine was:
3 shots of Knob Creek bourbon
1 shot of sweet vermouth
a few shakes of bitters

Sounds about right. I usually go with:

3 shots whiskey/rye
1/2 of dry vermouth
1/2 of sweet vermouth
bitters

For the booze, I go with either Knob Creek (love this stuff), Woodbridge Reserve (another great).

I think my favorite of those 2 is Woodbridge. I haven't tried a Manhattan using Rip Van Winkel, Bookers, or anything like that.
