I will probably carry them on with me - but is there any harm (other than the luggage getting lost or bashed in) from carefully putting the cigars into the checked luggage?

Appreciate the input.

maybe the temp changes they will go through. hot out on the tarmac, freezing cold up in the air. Im not sure if it will have an effect or not.

May be just me, but I never put anything I consider valuable into checked luggage. Lost, stolen, damaged, it all happens to checked baggage. I guess it could happen to my carry on, but I like it being in my hands.

When I flew back from Puerto Rico last week, I had my 10 cigars in my carry on - the only time I'd check something valuable is if I fly with firearms. And then, I'd rather drive if possible...

Thanks for the feedback - that's what I was thinking but always feel more comfortable running it by the forum. That cigar bar in SF is looking awful good right now.

i took a travel case on a plane, when we landed and got home, i couldnt open the case, i guess there is that much atmospheric pressure change between sacramento and here.

I was afraid the pressure change would screw it up and swell/crack the foot. I doubt I will bring more than 3-4 sticks so I can put them in my little travel humidor. I have a travel case but I can't fit it in my laptop bag.

Very common for traveldors to stick after flight.
Some have a valve you can unscrew (after flight) to release the pressure. I'd take the cigars onboard. The cargo hold os no place for a cigar. It can effect the flavor for a week or two.
So if you want them to smoke right away take them carry on!

CC, I never even thought about it affecting the flavor of the smoke - thanks for the tip. I will let my business partner get the bags and run out and have a smoke...good point.

they were in my carry on bag and still that happend. it was sucked so tight the clasps were not clasped, it was compressed to the point they were passed the nub they click on. ive tried to replicate it just by squeezing it together but i cant do it enough.

I've had the same thing happen to my cigar caddies. When space isn't an issue I have a larger humidor briefcase that actually has a setting for airline travel. It still closes, but leaves a small gap so that their will be a balance in air pressure.
