Anyhow???? 8)

CAREFUL BLOOF, THAT'S A LOADED QUESTION AND YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR AN HONEST ANSWER!!! . . .

roared the 35,671 bored to tears fans in barely half full Van Winkle Stadium.

Well, here's the deal. Everywhere I look Woodford's Reserve is always near the top of everybody's list of favorite bourbons. Me, I've had tastes from a few bottles of the stuff and . . .

      :?

I just don't like it.  :?

I don't like Maker's Mark either.    8)

I'm willing to do like the not so old Kellogg's cereal commercial and . . .

taste it again, for the very first time, but . . .

I don't think I'm going to like it next time either.

With all due respect to the good people at Labrot and Graham and also Maker's Mark, . . .

Sorry.

But I'm willing to accept the blame.

You've heard of Blame It On The Bossa Nova???

Blame Canada???

Blame Bush?

ALL TOGETHER NOW, LET'S . . .

Blame Bloof!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm not fond of Makers either, although either of the two you named are often a good choice in the mediocre selection some so called bars have!

I think Woodford is a fairly decent cigar pairing item. Very good with Monte No.2s. I'm not very fond of it as a sipping alone drink.

Perhaps you should try having a nice cigar with a healthy shot of WR and forget about tasting it objectively or in critique mode.

Well HP, that's sort of how I came to dislike it in the first place. It's a Green Eggs and Ham kind of thing. I've tried it in a box, with a fox, around the bend, hanging with friends, on a boat, a parade float, in a restaurant, any place you want, . . .

I JUST DON'T LIKE WOODFORD'S RESERVE!!!

Sorry Labrot and Graham, . . .

I truly am, . . .

and also a ham. But never with Spam.

:D

May I suggest it with...

A No.2 -while in a canoe? Preferably a 98 - with lots of weight. Perhaps a cube of ice - will add some spice. Take it slow - and enjoy the show.

When you drop your first ash - refill your glass...
Do it in the park, do it in the dark...
in a barn - while knitting yarn...
on a yatch or on a cot... in a car - in a bar...
in a football huddle on the space shuttle!

Try it for lunch - try it for brunch! By your self, with your friends, watch your health + your Depends©

Actually to be honest I think I do know what is wrong with you. Mainly it has to do with the level of bourbon drinking you are at.

Woodford Reserve is heaps behind some of the other whisk(e)ys discussed. That much I agree on. I came to find it tollerable in that (1) like Makers and Jack, Woodford is often available when out. Oooopsie, that actually was both the decent reasons right there to find a way to like the Woodford LOL.

As a participant (in the bourbon field) I don't see you confronted with this problem of choosing which is the lesser of two evils. From time to time I find myself somewhere that it boils down to exactly that.

Interesting stuff, and yes, with so many that I like, why wonder about the ones I don't? Nonetheless, with so many 'top-flight reviewers' giving it such a big thumbs up, I am often confronted with just the spectre of having to give people proper respect for their tastes.

As far as going out, I don't, but if I find myself out and about, Knob Creek is my 'fail safe'.

It's like this... The bourbon industry is chasing Jack believe it or not. I think JD moves somewhere around 7 Million cases annually. No one can figure out how or why but yet that's the reality. That means somebody likes the stuff. As for Woodford, believe me I have tasted worse, but I also figure there is that segment of people who genuinely like what they taste in it.

For one, it's a non aggressive bourbon (imho), which that has it's own following as well.

When I found out how Tennessee Whiskey was made, i.e., that it is filtered through maple sugar infused charcoal, I said . . .

AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

I tasted some about 15 years ago with these two friends of mine who used to drink the stuff like it was apple juice, and I found that "cloying" effect that is sometimes discussed in the cigar smoking world, the "hooking" of the palate in other words. Jack has that appeal to the "sweet tooth" and that's why I think people keep coming back. Uh uh, not for me, I'll take bourbon or rye any time. If I want to have a sugar fit, I'll eat a cheesecake or a pumpkin pie.

Hey Bloof,

You meant to say SOME cheesecake or SOME pumpkin pie not A cake a Pie right?

Ed

You know that doggie in the picture has helped himself to some cake and pie before. 1/2 a huge pumpkin pie from Costco once. BUT, the worst was when we had a dog that we were medicating for seizures. Apparently one particular med that she was getting made her voracious! (poor Sadie) When we order pizza we usually get a medium, plain, cheese pizza for the boys to eat and a large extra cheese with peppers and onions, etc., for my wife and I to eat (it usually last a couple days) Anyway I received the delivery put the pizza boxes on the table and went to call the boys. When I returned in a matter of moments one box was gone. I mean GONE! Sadie ate the pizza then started on the box. She was due for a blood test the next day as a med-check and they couldn't do it because her blood was very thick and almost yellowish. When we explained about the pizza the vet said "Oh yeah, that's it.)
True story!

I figured you would chime in with that. I know you read my stuff, and yes, I did mean A pumpkin pie or cheesecake, not SOME!!! :D   :D
