Check this thing out!

A friend found this about 30+ years ago in the pine Barrens of NJ.
She rolled it a mile back to her car and it sat in her garden for many years.
A few years back she passed away & I ended up with it.
It sits in my garden now.
No one has ever been able to tell me what it is.
She said the same thing -
She had it for 25+ years and no one ever knew what it was.

Anyone ever seen anything like it?
I seems to have a layer of something grey on the outside.
The next layer looks like rust, but is more like rust colored stone.
I have held a magnet to it & it did not stick.
I've had it for 5 or more years and can't find out what it is????

Care to Guess!
CC

It's a weather rock. If it is dry, it is sunny out. If it is wet, it means it is raining. If it is cold, it means it is cold out. And if it is gone, it means it was stolen!!!

But, if it's gone, but you find it inside your house near a broken window, it's a useful aid in breaking and entering, and clearly indicates the presence of thugs in the area.

looks like an old globe made out of rock or ceramic or whatever material it, possibly and older version before the representations of land mass and bodies of water weren't 100% accurate

Isn't that from outer space? Call the men in black.

Or better yet, say it's from outer space and put it up on ebay.

It is a Concretion...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concretion

A concretion is a volume of sedimentary rock in which a mineral cement fills the porosity (i.e. the spaces between the sediment grains). Concretions are often ovoid or spherical in shape, though irregular shapes also occur. They form within layers of sedimentary strata that have already been deposited. Concretions usually form early in the burial history of the sediment, before the rest of the sediment is hardenned into rock. This concretionary cement often makes the concretion harder and more resistant to weathering than the host strata.

I agree - another friend came up with this same answer and it seems to be right!

Bildo - PM me your mailing info - How about a package for getting it right!
