i recently got myself a Xikar travel Humi.

ive never worked with a travel humi before so im wondering how long will my smokes be good for iside provided i dont recharge the disk in there? or is there a better way to humidify those boxes?

I have not had one; but if you can get some beads in there i have heard that people have had great sucsess with them.

i tried to take out the sponge in there but its in there GOOD.

maybe i could get/make some kind of mesh tube to put some beads in. Itll take away one of the places for cigars but it may be worth it. Quality not quantity.

That travel humi is one of the best. The stick will go about 10 days on a charge depending on climate. as long as you keep it charged it will keep going forever.

i've kept cigars in my otterbox for a couple weeks with no probs and no humidification and the sticks were just fine...the air seal is that good

Same results here.

heartfelt sells pucks that i put in my ottor box. It has 2 way control for the RH just like the beads. Well i think its beads inside the puck.

My travel humi = a rubbermade container with a heartfelt bead tube in it  . Works like a champ

mine needs to go on backpacking/off roading trips. I dont know if that container would hold up quite as well.

Then you are better off with a cigar caddy/ otterbox type of container. The foam dividers will cushion and hold your sticks nice and snug protecting them. I started off with a tupperware container and always ended up with a few damaged sticks.

I've never put anything in my travel box.
The cigars hold RH.
I keep ciagsr in there always & "almost" never have dry cigars!

Muerte hit the nail on the head. If you are putting the case through some abuse you shoudl pick up a otterbox, cigar caddy, herfador. They go by alll these names but are ideal for rough cigar travel.
