Cigarsmoka & Macallan:
Get ready there is bad news.
I had the opportunity today to smoke the final two Diploma Maduros and one Padron 2000. My comparison is over and here is my best opinion.Due to the Diploma I had to change a few catagories to create a fair evaluation.
Appearance- a tie at 8 points, I don't need a perfect look.
Pre-smoke- Padron 10, Diploma 9.
Burn/Draw- Padron 9- Diploma 10.
Value- Padron 10- Diploma 5. Based on money paid.
Age - 10 each, these are ready to smoke.
Taste- a tie at 9 points.
Complexity-
This was the key to the winner.
I love Padron because they are very consistent- end to end.No suprises- a very reliable smoke.
The Diploma- one needs to pay attention to this smoke. I recommend that you don't rush this cigar. It smokes you.
The final Diploma- which was no different than the first two- I was ready. It gave me a gentle ride of change. Every puff offered me a change if I managed it- and I did. I've only experienced this pleasure with the best of the best Cubans. Others have stated that " This cigar is not for amateurs" NOT TRUE. If you like good cigars- BUY THIS ONE.
Therefore, Complexity - Diploma 10- Padron 4.
Results:
WINNER: DIPLOMA 8.71 PADRON 8.57
BAD NEWS IS THAT I LOST.
Comments:
I had a lot of fun with this and I owe Cigarsmoka & Macallan my very best thanks for exposing me to a great cigar. I'll be a little more careful in the future with my challenges, but will challenge the EXPERTS. I believe very strongly in my rating and feel that I have an obligation to do it right. I did not try to prethink the results. I didn't know the winner until I added up the numbers. When I added up the numbers the review was over.I would have liked the Padron to win but there is honor in a fair competion.
Thanks everyone.
PS Cigarsmoka & Macallan- you both know how to reach me via email. Please do not use the PM.At times I can't open these. When I receive your mailing address- I will promptly mail you the French Saturne to complete the deal.
