I just registered for Toast Across America on Sep 30. Sponsored by JC Newman. Charity event at Soaring Eagles Casino in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Dinner, guest speakers are Carlos Fuentes, JR., and Eric Newman, raffle for a Corvette, two special release cigars. http://www.soaringeaglecasino.com/events/Charity.htm

Anyone else going or interested in meeting me for a drink and smoke before or after let me know. I plan on driving up from KZOO in the morning, maybe playing golf Saturday. Watching the Buckeyes beat Iowa after dinner. Sunday is wide open to any suggestions.

John, I will be up bird hunting pretty close to Mt Pleasant that weekend. Maybe we can meet up for a drink and smoke. Got any Ginger beer left!?!?!

It sounds like John is going to have an excellent time. We will all be with you in spirit if not in body brother!! :D :D

Captain,

I'll bring a couple of bottles of homebrews to share--including the ginger mead (fermented honey). Will send an e-mail later to finalize plans and ask for recommendations on a place to get good beer. I know I will be checking out Mountain Town Station and maybe Sanford Lake Bar and Grill brew pubs. Any others in the area?

im not going to be able to attend....any chance if i toss someone some $$ they can pick me up the cigars they hand out? I'll cover a part of your ticket for you... pm me if you up for it.

PM sent to Capt to try and get together this weekend while I am in Mt. Pleasant, and to CohibaSmoker apologizing for not responding to his e-mail for a month.

Who else knew that this message board doesn't put up a flag when you have a pm? Another newbe error I will have to attone for. Well, if I win the corvette I will offer a ride to all of you. CohibaSmoker, I will work out something. And, capt, I will have some homebrew for you this weekend.

This will be in Charlotte NC on Oct 24 . Do I have to register for these events? If so, where do I register? Also, is anyone interested in meeting up for this event. Sounds like a great time.

Twoputts,
You can have a pop up announce when you have a PM...

PM me if you need a hand...You can repay my kindness with that Opus, my address is inbound....

Thanks, RMRDADDY. This is the kind of help that I have grown to take for granted.

I selected the notification when I set my profile. But, I have a pop-up blocker that I probably need to disable for this site to make it work. If that doesn't work, and my 12 year old little brother can't help, I may be forced to come back to you--even though your price is higher than the pizza I can probably get by with on this end.

I just returned from this event. It was truly amazing! One of the best evenings I have had in a long time. Afterwards my friend (also local tobacconist) and I enjoyed a nice cigar in the bar.

Carlos Fuente and Eric Newman seem to be not only very successful businessmen ( I liked them for that already) but also very socially responsible. We recieved two cigars as expected on arrival. A Fuente Fuente Forbidden Opus X and a Diamond Crown Maximus. My girlfriend doesn't smoke and I was more than happy to take those sicks from her.

Also towards the end they surprised us with a cigar specially rolled for this event called the Fuente Fuente Opus X Soaring Eagle. Soaring Eagle is the name of the casino where this event was held. This cigar is among some of the most unique looking cigars I have ever seen. The foot is box pressed and it gets slightly smaller in diameter towards the cap and that end is round. Also on the cap it has what my tobacconist refers to as a pigtail. I also unburdened my girlfriend from that one as well.

On the way out they were selling the last few coffins left for $50 each and I picked up two. I am just in awe at these cigars. I ahve not had the privledge of smoking much more than the Don Carlos and the short story from AF. These babies are currently aging in the humi waiting for the right moment.

I had the privledge of being introduced to Eric Newman and Carlos Jr. I felt like I was in the presence of a couple of rock stars. We had our picture with Carlos and my local tobacconist is hanging that in the shop.

Just a great night. I am really less than a year old in this hobby. Tonight was the most exciting of all since I have started enjoying premiums regularly.

All the best...

That sounds so cool man! I can't wait to get to do stuff like that! We need pictures of you and Carlitio, and the sticks! I need to see those pups.

Grats on a great evening.

Just wanted to confirm what CTB said. It was a fantastic evening and supports a very worthy cause. Eric and Carlito are obviously passionate about their charity cause. They have built schools, health clinics, sports and rec facilities, and an organic farm area to support a very depressed and deprived community. Their work is being studied by the UN to encourage other corporations to follow and give back to the communities.

The food, company, cigar smoking experience was great. Unfortunately, I drove home in my used Explorer instead of the new corvette.

And when I figure out how to resize my photos of the cigars, I will post them. I have tried unsuccessfully to down load the programs mentioned on the sticky for this site. Will get some help at work tomorrow. I sure miss my computer geek son!

Here are cigars.

John those are great cigars. It was unfortunate I was unable to meet up with you, but we can always have another get together over here!
