In my Mack truck somewhere in a Chicago suburb smo
ok...so i have my new shipment, box of 'A's, cusano sampler, the graycliff '97s...all packed away and tidy like with the celo on in my humi

how long do i want to wait b4 i smoke them...are they ready right from cigar.com? do i leave the celo on? take celo off? Is there a difference in ready time with the celo on or off?

Smoke em if you got em!!!! It's all up to you. Try one fresh if you want or let them age as long as you want. Or anywhere in between. But generally speaking it is better to let cigars sit in a humidor for at least a couple of weeks so you don't have any burn issues do to fresh shipped cigars being maintained at a higher RH than most people enjoy for smoking.

for the most part muerte is right. do what you gotta do.
its all up to you. However there are a few things that i choose to do.
lets look at this one question at a time.
I would let them sit for at least two weeks. again like muerte said. it could fix some burn issues. It just tends to even things out. In theory they are ready to smoke as soon as you get em. its not what works best for me.

I leave the cello on. I think its a good way to protect the cigar before smoking. Plus i think its cool to take the cello off after a year or two in the humi and see it all yellow and what not. I dont think there is much of a difference in "ready time" if you take the cello off or leave it on. Some will argue that leaving the cello on will make it age slower. but if you plan to smoke it before the one year mark it would make almost no difference.

like i said-- i cant tell you what to do. I can only tell you what works for me. You may find that you like the cello off. you may find that your cigars are "ready" in 3 days.

its all about what you like

got ya...i appreciate you two sharing with me your experience...it helps

Definitely the cigars will benefit from a bit of a "rest" in the humidor - but I usually do what Muerte says and smoke one right off the truck to get a feel for that cigar and a baseline. It's always to compare it to when you smoke it a few weeks later and then further on down the road.

Just my 2cents. The more rest the better (I am buying my spring and summer smokes right now!) - but give one a try right away and see what you think.

Most smokes do best if sent to me for a trial period. 8)
