Hello all,

I look forward to talking with you folks about a new hobby, passion, obsession of mine, cigars.

I have started out simple, Carlos Torano Exodos is one of my favs now. Every Partaga has done me right, so far.

My question is, my girlfriend and I are going to London in March and I will be having a couple of smokes a day. I would like to know which Cubans would be the best to start with or just to try because I can. I have been reading some past threads to identify some of the counterfiets but i would like to know which Cubans to try. I know that I will go to Robert Lewis' while I am there and ask to see Winston Churchills humidor, other than that what should I do?

As I said, I have read some past threads and can not wait to try some of the recommendations given to the other noobs.

First and foremost make sure it is a licensed Habanos SA dealer. you will know this by the signs that will be posted quite obviously throughout the store. Also, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. Seeing as the English pound is about 2 American dollars to one right now. I would try the old Cuban Legacies Montecristo #2, Romeo Y Julieta Churchill, and any Cohiba. I also recommend Hoyo Double Coronas and i had a San Cristobal Petite Corona I got in Prague last year that was superb. it's always fun to try Limited Editions as well. After you have had your fill of Cubans you'll realize the cost isn't justified by the quality. Many times you will pay for a $25 cigar and it will be plugged or will run like the wind. So have fun and to be safe you can got to http://www.cigaraficianado.com and they will have a location of a licensed habanos shop too.

Definatley check out the Davidoff shop, it's world famous, as well as Dunhill. They're kinda pricey but Authentic without a question. Have fun, I haven't been since I was 17. let me see, about 8 years ago now. Wow. It feels like yesterday!

Memphis: I'm new to cigars myself, but was fortunate enough to try a Cuban [not Dominican] Romeo y Julieta [Churchill]. If while in the UK you happen by one, I highly recommend it. Anyway, good luck with your trip, and happy cigar hunting.

Thanks guys for the info. I will try some of the suggestions as well as some of the limited additions that catch my eye. As far as the dollar vs. pound. I actually planned ahead, for once, and did the currency exchange when the rates were closer together. So now I will be able to afford some of the high dollar ones. Again, thanks guys.

Hi. On average, a No 3 Montecristo or Romeo Y Julietta will cost about £8.00 to £10.00 sterling with a Churchill costing about £16 to £20 sterling. That is the prices in Northern Ireland, so I would imaging that prices in London will be a little higher. Most of my Cubans come in from Spain which is considerably less expensive.
