Do a friend a favor...give them the hiccups.

Off the top of my head this morning...

I was contemplating what I'm going to smoke this weekend on the drive to work. (prolly because I had a dream about cigars last nite...sex...women...cigars...guns...booz...always the same dreams :D ). I happened to think about a couple of Fuente's I gave 2 friends at a party not too long ago. Both friends are non smokers but will enjoy a good cigar now and then if I give them one. I originally started them with mild cigars earlier in the year and they both said they wanted something alittle stronger. So here I am, sitting next to the pool with the boys...smoking...about 1/2 way thru the cigar, I hear hiccups...first from one...then the other. I turn to them and say..."is the cigar strong enough?"
Hic..yep...its...hic...good...

I've done my job :D

Newbies smoking Opus X's.

Well, what other Fuente would do that to a newbie, unless he was talking about just the regular A. Fuente. In which case, I'd say HOLD THE OPUS X'S!!!!

If/when I smoke strong, full bodied cigars, I can get the hiccups too! I've learned how to handle them, but it still happens from time to time. Usually it happens when I'm outside working on something and not taking my time smoking it "correctly"! :D

It's actually not that funny. I was discussing cigarette smoking with a couple friends the other night. One of them asked me about cigar smoking. He was running low on cigarettes, and I told him if you need more tobacco, I've got three large sticks of it in my briefcase.

He asked me about the cigar smoking experience and if I'd ever tried cigarettes. I told him I tried it for a day about 27 years ago, and at the end of the pack had already decided it wasn't for me. I told him that cigar smoking is something for a "special time," not like David Letterman and some others who got involved in "the fad" back in the 90's. I told him it was meditative. That's why I can't really laugh at what TinyTim said, because if you're not paying attention, you WILL start smoking it "incorrectly", and hiccoughs can definitely result.

So can an involuntary inhale, and THAT is a most unpleasant thing to do with a cigar. I know, I know, I'm going to hear from the 21 year olds who "have been inhaling gigantic cigars" since they started smoking at 16, and with no ill effects whatsoever. That of course, will bring derision and questions about my manhood.

:dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :sm_angel:

Actually, they were chateau's...a medium smoke. But these guys are not smokers. I laughed at em, because this has happened to me too. I'm pretty nicotene tolerant from previous years of cigarettes, but a full bodied will occasionally get me.
Oh, and Bloof...I did accidentally inhale a whole mouthful of smoke a couple of months ago. Fortunately, at the instant it past down my throat, I realized my mistake and  I forced it back out. Minimal coughing and discomfort. Thank God. A full blown inhalation and coughing fit will ruin the smoke for the rest of the nite.

I don't know why people inhale cigars.....

I remember when I was 15 I had a bundle of drugstore cigars I somehow got from walgreens...
I was a t a party drinking schnopps.. (sorry if you've heard this before)

Anyway, every time I puffed I swallowed the smoke!! Every freaking time!! I don't know what my deal was...I told my buddy, he tried and did the same thing...

Needless to say I ended up leaning on a tree with my hand across my stomach and a acidic peppermint stream dripping from my mouth...it was a painful night....I haven't had schnopps since....

haha..yea...I remember another thread where you told that story. I don't drink peppermint snapps either for similar reasons.

Man...inhaling cigar smoke will definitly put you on a resperator. When I smoked cigarettes...I would occasionally take aliitle cigar smoke in...but not much...I never do now.
A good cigar tastes best without inhaling. :D

edited for crappy spelling...I must be anticipating that scotch tonite!!

Bloof, I think that will be our next 101 for the Newsletter...

I did that last week, and I coughed quite a bit. I dont smoke cigars that much, but will smoke one with my dad whenever I visit him. For myself, I will only buy a cigar occassionally, and therefore dont mind buying something expensive ($5-15). But my dad smokes cigars all day, and he smokes cheap ones. When I was younger I didnt see him smoke them too often (I guess mom didnt like him smoking around the kids) but when I did he used to smoke Swishers all the time. How he has got on to backwoods. So yall can make fun of me for smoking cheap cigars :)
