Guys,

I am toying with the notion of creating "virtual cigar events" now that we have the chat feature up. I am thinking of trying to incorporate everything you would find at an in store event. Maybe 2 hours and we bring in a special guest, ie Mike Cusano or Tim Ozinger of CAO. He comes and participates in a live chat to interact with the customers. While the event is going on we put that particular persons cigars on special. Perhaps a door prize. It will probably increase the activity on the forum overall as a side effect also.

I would like to get some feedback from you guys on this idea and maybe some suggestions to make it as fun as possible. Please let me know your thoughts.

This could be a good idea....maybe 2 hours might be a little long, don't want to have a special guest sitting in front of a computer.......never mind.......It might give me a chance to get home from work and jump on....I work crazy hours!

Great Idea Alex! looking forward to it, as I spend most of my time in this forum. I don't even know what is going on in the world right now! How do you propose the door prize, if any, would work??

Scott

i like the idea, might not be as fun for the people who can't smoke in front of their computers.

i think its an awsome idea, i thought about organising a sit down on the chat or somthing but thats even better.

Yes, this idea is finally going to come together!! This will be a great way for all the forum members to get some one on one time with the manufacturers!

I love this idea!

It would be nice if the chat room window could be made larger or resizeable - I have a lot more screen space on my computer that could be used. Currently, the text moves off the screen too quickly if you have more than 2 or 3 people on at once...

Good idea. This would be very interesting to try.

Cybrus has a good point about the text moving off the screen too quickly. In many chats it is hard to follow the line of the conversation because there are several of people who want to participate and the text moves fast. It might be hard for a guest to address questions and comments without everyone getting lost in the scrolling text. A moderator would probably be necessary.

Maybe one (or more) prizes could be given by taking the names in the chat at a particular time for registration for a drawing. If people come and go in the chat as their time allows, they could be registered for the next prize at whatever time interval (unannounced) the moderator chooses and, of course, one prize limit per winner and be in the chat to win.

Keep it comin. This is great feedback. I invision the door prize being drawn from the members that are in the forum at a certain time during the event. IE if it is a 7 - 8 event then at 730 i collect the names that are in the chat room and draw from them for a door prize.

I will check on the screen size issue. Thanks for the heads up.

Maybe in addition to having the guest's cigars on special, have a "blue light" special or two during the event.

"For the next 2 minutes get an additional --% off a box purchase" or
"We have samplers available at $-- for the first -- (number of) participants to order"

or

Have an auction of something that the guest might provide or something in the guest's line that is hard to find.

A cool door prize would be something autographed by the guest! Also, it would be good to make sure there is plenty of warning for the date and time, so nobody misses it.

I like FreedomGuns idea. Not sure how crazy you want to go with giveaways, but a ready-to-go humidor pre-stocked by the Guest with his own favorites would be really cool.

Yes, we all would, he just needs to make sone humidors, kinda like CAO does, but for all his lines, i would love to have a C10 Humidor
