Okay guys, I'm gonna put this out there:

First let me say that no moderators have put me up to this. It is on my own and how I feel about this forum. Moderators, if I am out of line, I apolgize and by all means, please delete this post.

We have seen a real slow down in the past year. To the point where there are maybe only a couple of new posts a day. FROM THE SAME PEOPLE.

Talking to you guys and getting to know you like I have, I know this forum is or once was important to you as it is to me. This is the first forum that I came to. This is the forum where I learned about cigars. THIS IS THE FORUM WHERE I MADE CLOSE FRIENDSHIPS. I hate seeing the lack of participation on here. With all that is going on in the cigar forum world right now with buyouts, burned bridges, and new forums being formed, right now is the opportune time for us to get new members and regain old ones. Lets not let this die out! Now the fact is: if we have time to chat on skype, we have time to post on the forum. Post and chat at the same time. And the fact is, without this forum, we wouldn't have had a chat room and we wouldn't have discovered skype (thanks to Jeff). This used to be a fun place to be. A place for friends to discuss our passion: cigars and the good life. We have seen baby's born, marriages, in short, we have seen LIFE.

Friends, I am not trying to put myself on a pedestal, but here is what I have done: last night I PM'd alot of the old members who no longer post, asking them for help in increasing participation. I will continue to do this in the next several nights. In the past couple of months I have posted my ass off trying to stimulate conversation and interest. I even frigging quote myself from time to time! Come on guys, lets do this and get our community back. I know about being busy. I have a family, I do night school, i'm trying to get a new job and build a better future for my family. But I also want a place to relax, to discuss my likes and dislikes, a place to have like-minded friends. I found this on this forum about a year and a half ago. it is no longer here. I am not ready to let it go.

Please help me guys. Please help the mods. Lets get this back.

Again, if I am out of line, just delete this post. i am not trying to step on moderators toes nor am I trying to shoulder my way into something that is not my business. Let me take that back, it is my business, this is my home forum. I belong here. So do you.

This is a very well thought out and heart felt post.
I myself have been trying to keep this forum alive as well, but have found myself venturing to more active forums. With the buy out of one of those forums, I do not feel I wish to stay there. Instead of running off to another forum, I feel my time would be better spent posting here and trying to recruit new members for THIS forum. I have discussed this with another active member and he agreed that this is an opportunity to grow OUR forum.
We have something special here. Most of us have made friendships that go beyond cigars. I almost feel protective of this forum and don't want to see it become one of those mega forums like CL and CS, but at the same time we need more participation to keep this alive. I know lots of us spend time on AIM in the mornings and SKYPE at night (my work load and wife say too much time) but that is because I genuinely care about the people that I get to chat with. Other forums seem to be content with bashing each other instead of learning from each other. I think that is our nitch. Come to the EOTAC family!
During this time of turmoil in cigar forums lets all take it upon ourselves to look for new active members. I just don't want to bring in the people who are causing problems on other sites right now. Bring in the people you know can contribute to this forum and become active participants. Lets bring this forum back to the glory days of AMBAC. Who is with me!
(this is where my horse spins around and stands on its back legs and huffs in the cold air. I then unsheathe my gigantic sward and ride off toward the enemy....will anyone follow me? Stay tuned....)

The complaining and arguing on the other forums is making me sick. As long as I have been on ambac/eotac, I have never seen an open argument or dissagreement.

As said, i will continue to send PM's to people that I think might come back. Of the 10 that I sent last night, 4 have received the message. I know a few guys real well on the "other" forums and will PM them as well.

I would love to see the forum return to how is was just a short time ago. This is the first firum I joined and I really only post here. I have tried to post as much as I can becuase it takes much less time than chatting which I can't find the time to do, yet! I will help you guys in any way I can, I hoped the box pass would spur some activity, not sure how much it did. Well anyway this is home to me as I haven't posted anyplace else, so......let's do it! :thumbsup:
 
Great post guy's. I also have been troubled by the lack of posting. We have always had great people here. Hope things return to close to what they were!!!
 
I hate to say it; but not being attached to c.com has taken a hit on membership and posts. We always had new faces popping up and adding posts making it a more popluar site. The veterans were helping the new guys (a lot that never came back but its all good). But there were things going on. I'm not sure what the future holds; but until we have new mebers coming by more often; I think we might just end up like poor Dustin, talking to ourselves.
 
Dave, sometimes things typed come off in a different manner than we intend. So with that being said, i'm not sure if you intended that to be a joke about "poor Dustin talking to himself". Please clarify.

I am good at taking jokes, Lord knows the BS I take from Craig.

One thing I know can further this discussion and activity on these forums is humor. And speaking of humor, WHAT is THAT thing in Big_Matt's avatar? Is that a giant mouse, someone making a peace sign, or a rabbit with a very dark face? Whatever it is, it's well placed in the photo, and curiously hilarious!!!

I to have been neglecting this forum, and would not like to see it dissapear, so I promise to ressurect old posts, and maybe even start some new threads to keep it alive brother. Thanks to you and CM for waking us all up!

VERY cool, Matt, and thanks for the blow up. Really beautiful color, including the eyes. I see a poster in the background of something called the "House Rabbit," so evidently you are someone with a big interest in them, and I'm sure quite a bit of knowledge. Haven't known too many people with pet rabbits, but they were always loved as any other pet. What exactly is that color called? Looks like some sort of exotic shade of brown.
 
Don'tcha be firin' up that rabbit now, elidog. That ain't no eatin' wabbit, dat's a House Wabbit, just like the poster says!!!
