Affiliation Split from Were is everybody

Glad to hear it Travis, as someone who promised Fernando that I would remain here permanently, health and life permitting. I used to post links to my favorite cigar web sites also, but as the relationship between Cigar.com and AmBack deepened, I saw that it was really unnecessary to do so, and that anyone who wanted to exchange such information could really do so through PM. That could mean potentially, because everyone knows what a good shopper I am, as many as fifty or more people might want that information.

Of course, it's therefore easier to post such information publicly, but for the sake of propriety in relationships, it's a small thing. After all, the participation on any forum is by agreement between membership and provider/management, so as with anything in life, rules are rules. If this one, that one or the other one had their own web site in cyberspace, certain rules might be different, but in the long run, everyone has to have them, and I'm grateful for having AmBack here, so I've learned to fit in.

Travis - we all got sucked into this thing - it was fun watching you drop like a redwood!

This was Travis (and most of us when we joined)....it kind of went like this... "I only will have a cigar or two a month so I only need a 25 count humidor, do they make them smaller?"

Now it's...."Do you think the 25 count TRAVEL humidor will be big enough for my hunting trip on Saturday?"

Bloof - don't give us that ceremonial stuff. We all have Bloofington posters up on our walls. Sly fox.

Hee, hee, heee!!! Bloofy posters up on walls!!! I guarantee you, if there were ever a Bloof poster up on anyone's walls, guys would have their chicks and wives leaving them at record rates. Women running screaming out of their homes throughout America!!!

AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!

Discussion groups, self-help books, 800 counseling numbers, the birth of an industry.

Wife 1: He made you LOOK at this poster of that Bloof guy?

Wife 2: Yeah, then he made me READ three of his posts on the internet!!!

(Collective gasp from Oprah's audience, as Wife 2 collapses sobbing into Wife 1's arms, with Oprah leaning over and hugging both of them in a "gal thing" comfort session.)

Much to my dismay the cigar guys sucked me into there world where the humi is the center of the universe here

I hope that I had a little bit to do with it!!!

These guys did the same to me, I was fine with a 25 Ct. then a 25 and a 120, the a small cooler, then a 120 QT cooler then a wine fridge, Now two wine fridge,., I love this obbsession!

I have no problem with CCOM's affiliation. They were the first online purchase I've made of cigars and have been a repeat customer. Packing and shipping times are better than any other online purchase I've made and they've got very competitive pricine on most of their stock. Sometimes I buy cigars at one of the b&m's in town, sometimes from them. And sometimes I find samplers online I can't get anywhere else including CCOM so I buy there. All in all, if somebody doesn't like a business' association with a forum, the don't have to be a member. I'll still be here....

that didn't sound too abrasive did it?

BTW travismaine, you're post was spot on. I couldn't agree with you more. Well said.

I found this forum on the cigar.com website. I started posting because I want to learn about cigars. I would hope that people who sell cigars would know information about what they sell. Talking to customers of a business is good too. I don't care if cigar.com owns this site (I know they don't). This is a good forum which is why I post here.

And it's certainly always good to see Carduus in the house. I will also add that in this age of ever changing avatars, I'm glad he's kept his!!!

Don't ever change. You are loved just as you are. That's an important thing in life that not too many people realize. They're already okay, and don't need to do anything but keep on keepin' on.

I like this forum and although it took me some time to learn the difference between what I would say in person vs what I say here Just ask a few of the moderators. I am MUCH more forward in person. I have learned so much here I hate to think how much this education would have cost me at a college. I came to this forum because it was a gun forum and me being a "gun nut" liked the idea of chatting with like minded people. Much to my dismay the cigar guys sucked me into there world where the humi is the center of the universe here I always thought the center of the universe was a gun safe? Now my planet orbits two suns one of steel and one of Spanish cedar.

I personally do not like the rule of no posting of deals of sites other then C.com. However looking at the greater picture if that is the price that must be paid to hang out with guys of this caliber in both the gun world and the cigar world then so be it. I know there is not a smarter more knolagable or friendlier bunch of guys and gal on the internet. I a proud to be here amongst you.

Travis, the staff dang near wore the Amback "Clue Bat"™ out on you, but the message finally sunk in and now you have become an asset as a member (you still walk the edge of the line from time to time, but nothing major)

Most of the rules are forum wide, but some sections of Amback have "area specific" rules. Some things are in place to protect people from themselves. The word filter taking out the name of that island country south of Miami by 90 miles is a good example. Are there boards that allow those discussions to take place?? Of course.... but that is not the practice here. If those boards want to chance being a test bed case in the legal system -- have right at it! With today's search engines, why make ourselves and our members targets??

One big thing to note is that we try to act like adults here and do not allow personal attacks, trolls and the in-fighting that has destroyed many an online forum. The Amback Forums do not charge members a fee to use it, and so no one can feel empowered to demand special treatment because "I'm a paying member" (I have been on boards where paying/donating members could get away with breaking the rules because they would lord over the moderators/staff that they PAY to use the site).

I dont care who runs the site, I post here , & on a few other sites always as the same person , I always use my Name , on CA I am known as Vinny O as Vince was all ready taken (BY ME ) but one time I had my computer worked on & wasnt able to log back on as Vince , so I just signed up as Vinny O & everything went fine , But I digress, I have been active here & have made a lot of friends here , on CA , & others I dont post much on cigar family, no reason just dont get there all that much, Bloof & I have been running the Sunday morning smoke for a few years & it started on CA, but there was a falling out of a few @$$hats there & we moved over here , so liike I said I dont care who is in charge & have an opinion & like @$$holes every one has one ! , I have been suspended for a time on a few sites for saying what I wanted to say , but I still post there & here , so what ever it takes this is a great p[lace to post & I enjoy all that I read here & there , the moderators work hard for no compensation, I dont think I could do it my self, as a former radio talk show host I dont type as well as I talk , dammmmm if I could I might post more ! Enjoy, Vince

Very very few sites have forums without a tie to a business. It costs money to build these things and keep them running. It makes sense to link business.

I don't post much at all anymore on vendor sites. It's not that I dont like them, it's that I became a sales rep and I dont want to overstep any boundaries. I still read and lurk, but posting has been limited to answering questions and the like. I used to share my opinion with everyone, but now my opinion may seem sided so I'll spare you.

You have a great community here and have for years. A forum backed by a group like cigar.com makes this better not worse.
Nobody is cramming anything down your throat, but as a courtesy, don't bring your own steak to a restaurant.

Very nicely put Bulz!

Currently the amback store http://www.amback.com is down for maintenence. That is what the forum was originally an offshoot of. Currently it is http://www.backyardoutfitter.com that is paying to keep the lights on here on the forums. If you do not sign in via the main portal then you have not noticed the addition of the Elite Series section on the forums.

I wasn't going to post on this thread anymore but I can't hold my fingers. The above analogy reinforces why Inland stopped posting. The original thread was where did everyone go. He stated why he no longer posts here. Its his prerogotive. I have no problem with CCom or its "affiliation" with Amback. I only commented on my understanding of Inlands post.
