DreamWeaver Wheat Ale - Tröegs Brewery (1.5 of 5 stars)

DreamWeaver Wheat Ale - Tröegs Brewery (Harrisburg, PA)

This is one hefty wheat beer - in fact it almost seems as though it is trying to hard to be a good wheat beer. Don't bother with the a slice of orange or lemon - you won't even notice it. Not quite bad enough to warrant pouring it out, but I don't encourage the actual purchase of it.

Brown Ale - Saranac (2.5 of 5 stars)

Brown Ale - Saranac (Utica, NY)

Their description claims that there is a "sweet, chocolaty taste, with balanced bitterness." I'd have to say that the bitterness is not balanced, but a bit too overpowering for a brown ale. Definitely a drinkable beer, but not a first or second choice by any means.

India Pale Ale - Saranac (2.5 of 5 stars)

India Pale Ale - Saranac (Utica, NY)

Your average IPA - not too hoppy, not too bitter, not too much of anything. Doesn't really stand out. I would save this for later in the evening after you're taste buds aren't as picky.

Black Forest - Saranac (3 of 5 stars)

Black Forest - Saranac (Utica, NY)

Not a bad beer at all. A bit smoky and pronounced coffee taste.

Caramel Porter - Saranac (2.5 of 5 stars)

Caramel Porter - Saranac (Utica, NY)

Strong caramel smell is the first thing you notice. Made me a little hesitant to even drink the beer. For the first third of the beer, you're overpowered by the strong caramel taste. Not a bad taste, just very potent. After the first third, your mouth has adjusted and the caramel doesn't stand out nearly as much. This is as close to a "dessert" beer as anything I've had. I don't think I could drink more than one before I got tired of caramel, but it's definitely a change of pace.

Now I want a beer. Thanks Dave.

Good thing I have the day off of work today.

Haha! So do I! Unfortunately, I am at work right now, so I'll have to settle for coffee.

I'm no good at reviewing beer, mainly because I have no idea what hops tastes like.

My favorite beer is Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout.
The worst beer I've ever had was a Gritty's Black Fly Stout. It got poured out.
