That's great. That's a really huge event, and I'm sure more exciting that the ones I've attended. Of course, I'm a low key, laid back kind of guy, so the NYC events were perfect for me. I will say this though, and I'm saying this to everyone, since the topic of The Big Smoke has not been addressed around here in quite a while.
There WILL be pushing and shoving. There will probably be a lot of cops, firefighters, union workers, etc. there, as well as office worker types, and of course executives. And yes, there WILL be pushing and shoving. Be careful to leave your sense of being offended outside, because it's all really in fun, and a lot of people have a tendency to become 13 year olds at these events. It IS possible to maintain a sense of humor and good naturedness at these events. It is easy to remember not to pick a fight with anyone when you realize in the scrum of 25 men there may be ten cops, three hit men, two ironworkers, five firefighters and a partridge in a pear tree.
So, don't be offended, don't get too macho, just go to have a good time. Did I just say The Big Smoke was akin to a cattle roundup, with a mild hint of stampede? It is possible to be on the fringes of these things if you are a laid back, slow mover like me, or you can be in on the roundup. Just don't get too ticked off, and most of the time the other cows are not really pushing you around to be personally belligerent, it's just everyone sort of hefting around for position.
Besides, after a nice cigar and a few visits to the whiskey tables, you won't care, you'll be a cow, too!!!
:cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh:
So, go at your own risk, and don't say I didn't warn ya. And anybody who does, please get back to us with your experiences. Personally, I'm interested in how much the event costs these days, and how many "free" cigars they were giving away. I want to know the BASE amount, not how many you got away with after you told Carlito how much you liked his watch, or conned Nick Perdomo with compliments on his hair, just the base amount they were offering for your total coupon book.
Have a great time folks.
