Although I only had it for a few months, I summoned up the courage to smoke this monster tonight.

First, I had a sumptuous "breakfast," concluding about 1940 hours, of my infamous linguini with garlic and oil. This time, I set out to smash my personal record of 68, and also Alex The Taxi Driver Who Moved to Tucson's record of 70. That was set at a restaurant in the area decades ago, where Alex used to eat shrimp scampi. The restaurant would make it with as much garlic as you wanted. Alex walked in one night, and said, "What's the restaurant record?" The answer came back as 51. He said "Gimme 70." Well, I had my linguini with garlic and oil, with 83 cloves of garlic.

Then, I poured myself a glass of my No. 9 bourbon, the recently released William Larue Weller, an unfiltered, barrel proof (121.9), very fine whiskey. And when they say unfiltered, they mean unfiltered. You'll never see char in your glass, even at the end of a bottle of Booker's, and only a very little, if any, in your glass, with George T. Stagg, also supposedly unfiltered.

The last four or five shots in any bottle of William Larue Weller bourbon will contain a noticeable "blackness" in this normally dark amber whiskey, and provides an interesting tang and twist to this great libation.

At 2054 hours, I went in to Desk Top III and fished out the CAO Palms, a whale shaped, 6.5" cigar, that was about a 56 ring at it's fattest point. White pepper, stainless steel, tobacco  , and char flavors dominated this cigar. It also had a very, very big kick. I may pass out on the couch tonight, because Earnie Shavers kicked my ass all over the ring for the last 45 minutes or so of the smoke. It was over at 2252 hours.

:eek:mg:  :help: :flush:

Stainless steel - interesting characteristic. I've had one or two cigars that have tasted like what I imagine steel wool tastes like - though not in a bad way. More of an interesting note in the cigar.

I don't know. How many milligrams of lead is in 83 cloves of garlic?
