Well hon, rye IS bourbon, kinda sorta, and bourbon is rye, kinda sorta.
You see, bourbon is made from what's called a "mash bill" of at least 51% corn, and other grains, one of which is usually rye, sometimes a lot of rye, like Basil Hayden. And both types of whiskey are aged in new charred oak barrels. And both types of whiskey are TRULY American.
So, that's why the one we had last night tasted so much like bourbon, right Daddy?
You mean The Classic Cask Hand Crafted Single Batch 21 year old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey? Yup, that sure was some delicious drinking, wasn't it? Wonderful, sweet oak, with a lot of caramel and a little smoky spice in there, right?
Right Daddy, and don't forget to tell the folks, you'll go long (in the wallet) for a bottle of this stuff, but you won't go wrong!!!
Yes Virginia, there IS a gentleman.
