Good drinks to go With Cigars?

Hello. My friend’s having a party next weekend, and I’m invited. It’s gonna be the typical college party. I’m not a drinker like some of these guys (honestly I love to watch them get FUBAR and laugh at the stupid things they do). But since I’ve gotten a few cigars, I think I’d like to enjoy the finer side of life with a nice cigar and some high-end liquor. Heh, hobby or lifestyle? Right Syntax? ;)

Any suggestions? I’ve tried (and liked) Jim Beam, EJ Brandy, and Jagermiester. Tried (and didn’t like) Jack Daniels’, and Barcardi rum.

Any good suggestions for a Montecarlo White cigar? That’s what I plan on smoking at this party. And since I’m making a list, what else would you recommend for an occasional sipping enjoyment?

Thanks!

Jason

Get a good single malt scotch.
Like McCallan 12 or 18. 25 is my personal favorite but it's kind of pricey (around $200 a bottle) 18 should run you around $65-70, 12 is around $35-40.

Either way, you won't be disappointed!

Try a Monte White #2. I usually enjoy my cigar with Wild Turkey 101 or rum and recently had some W.T. Russells’ Reserve 10-Year-Old that was very good.

If you're gonna burn that Opus I'd suggest an aged Port. Otherwise I would go with a nice single malt scotch (Macallan, Glenlivet, Dalmore). Hennessy cognac is always nice as well.

Dow's is always a good choice.

I was also fortunate enough to pick up 2 cases of Cockburn's 1997 Vintage a while back (I've only opened two bottles so far).

Fonseca 20 Yrs Aged Tawny is also another favorite.

This summer I had the opportunity to enjoy a White Port by Charbay which was real nice although a little pricey.

Another I would recommend is Warre's Otima 10 Year Old Tawny. It can be found at Costco (do they call it Costco back east or is it still Price Club?) and I loaded up on it since it was only 9.99 per 375mL bottle, which is at least 10 bucks cheaper than anywhere I've searched online.

i like a very small ammount of port with a mild cigar, but with a stronger cigar just give me a nice north west brew beer.

Heinekin(sp?) is great with a cigar, so are Jager bombs lol:)

I'm goin with DevilDog's recommendation! The 10, 12, 18, or 25 yr old Macallan is an EXCELLENT choice! The rolls royce of scotch whiskeys!! Last week, I was reading of someone that was singing its praises and claimed that if God had a bottle of scotch in his cabinet, it would certainly be Macallan!! 8)

Mild cigar, I always like a younger single malt. Balvanie 10, or Speyside 10 (I may have butcher one or two of the spellings, haven't had my full cup of coffee yet). I also find that a good dark beer can be nice. For a mild cigar I would probably try Blue Moon Belgian White or Harpoon UFO.

I'm a Glenmerangie single malt highland guy myself....the 10 yr is my fav...alittle young for some but I love the tiny bite at the end...

I agree Ravyn! The 10 is good and I'm very happy with the the 12 year in the Sherry and Madeira versions

I love a scotch with my cigar & I also LOVE coffee with a cigar, if your at a party & want to watch the rest of the perverts get hammered, & you want to stay sober, sip black coffee with your cigar, , maybe just a small dram of malt in the coffee , but dont waste a good single malt by mixing it in the coffee, that is what blened scotch is for. Enjoy, & dont drink to much, save the good stuff for a quiet evening when it is just you & the cigar to loose yourself in the taste & magic of the smoke & whisky !
Enjoy, Vince

A lot of Sunday afternoons, when I am sitting in the Qtr.Deck, supper is in the oven , Barb is in the house reading the paper, the grandsons are with there father for the weekend & I am left all alone to comtemplate about the fact that I have hair growing in my ears & on my ears, , & why I have hair growing in the palms of my hands hahahaha ! Enjoy, Vince
