Had a Gurkha Titan Saturday night. Not sure what the size is exactly because I have seen it listed as 3 or 4 different sizes. Gurkhas website has it at 6.5 X 50. I know it is a lot bigger ring that 50. The LGC Serie R are 52 / 54 and it is bigger than those. I think it is 6.5 X 56. I have a couple of these, but was intimidated by the size. Wow was I wrong. This was a great 2 hour smoke.
The construction was great with a very nice cap that allowed a nice large cut without it coming apart. It smelled very spicy and sweet with a distinct unlit scent that I have never had. Maybe it was the Costa Rican tobacco? No veins and a very smooth wrapper with a little tooth to it. It lit very easy with tons of smoke. I swear I think I cleared the whole yard of bugs with the smoke from this thing. Billowed like a freight train. The huge ring gauge made the draw a little harder than I prefer, but still very nice. On the flipside, the large ring kept it burning very cool and it did not go out once in the whole 2 hours.
Generally, I have not had great experiences with Gurkha. This is the first exception. Overall it was not nearly as spicy as I thought it would be.
The first third was smooth with very little bite and with a bit of sweetness. Top notes of cedar and molasses were immediate with a slight bit of spice lingering.
The second third opened up with a little more spice, but still very reserved. Flavor did not change much other than the sweetness started to diminish at the bottom of this third.
The last third finished off nice and mild with earthy and leathery tones.
Great smoke. I'd like to have more, but the price tag is going to limit that, though I have 1 more TItan and a Beast left.
5 out of 6 smoke rings.
