I've told you previously about my first tasting or two of this suprisingly low priced but bold, flavorful, fine tasting bourbon at 107 proof, and coming from barrels aged a minimum of 12 years. The production is a mystery too, as it is listed as a Small Batch Bourbon, but it does not claim to belong to the heavily advertised, well known stable of bourbons, all fine ones in their own right. The "proprietor's" signature is also on the label, but of course it can't be read.
I'll put all mysteries and nuances of the distillation of certain whiskies aside, because we could talk about that until the cows come home. Come to think of it, we could talk about that until about 15 minutes after the cows come home.

Alas, binnys.com has taken it off their list, and since this was supposed to be a bourbon "on its way out" I guess that what I've got left may be all I ever taste.
Pure Kentucky starts out with a blast of spicy oak, blackberries and maple syrup early on, but as time passes with each ensuing sip I found less of a bold, blackberry taste, but rather that of plywood with maple syrup poured over it, and perhaps a touch of dried apricots. A very "rustic" tasting bourbon overall, and my "taste testing" has concluded, as now the true end of bourbon/rye season seems to surely be upon me. I've also had four or five tastings of this bourbon, and am well prepared for the thought processes ahead.
I am contemplating putting this one at somewhere between No. 8 and No. 12 on my Top 25. Look for a final determination for this low priced, obscure bourbon on this post within the coming week, after further contemplation.
Pure Kentucky. Get it, . . .
IF you can.
