Since there was a demand from someone for more military stories, here is a thread for us military personel to entertain you with our adventures! Enjoy! :rnr:
Well, I did my advanced training after I completed my time at Sandhurst and my first session was specialising in a jungle environment. We were shipped out to Belize and made a parachute drop to are location - avoiding trees and such like that you find in jungles!
Our plan was to do the drop, meet at the drop zone, then make the 30km insertion march to our training base. To make things more interesting - we were being targetted and tracked down by 4 SBS (Special Boat Service) soldiers who were on exercise. As a result, we weren't allowed to leave any trail so any waste, we carried with us!
So, the funny point to this story, one of the soldiers in my troop was leading the way, hacking away through the bush managed to decapitate a rare endangered species of lizard. This thing was pretty large, around the size of a commodo dragon - we radioed in to base and they made him put in his burgen and carry it the whole way to base - the poor bugger had an extra 70 pounds on his back!!
Picture below is me on exercise in the jungle!
