diablo picantes... the owner of the local shop told me that if cohiba looses diablo might be the alternative for all of the cohiba xv smokers. i decided i should finally smoke the one ive had sitting in the humidor. pretty good but i wouldn't buy a box. i would keep a couple singles on hand for when im in the mood though.
tried to smoke a cao gold, but it was plugged, tried to save it and ruined it. ended up smoking a sc conneticuit, man those are nice.
It's in the low 80s today, (nice tradewinds so it isn't hot in the traditional sense) and I prefer not to smoke strong cigars during the day (saving those for after dinner), but I don't like giving up flavor or taste.
I burned a San Cristobal de la Habana La Punta (Cuban) and it was just right; not strong but so complex, you'd think you were eating a health bar with fruit, chocolate, a streak of toasty oats, and a big helping of tobacco leaf.
We had a dinner party at the house this eveningand afterwards all the guys moved out to the back porch and lit up Juan Lopez Petit Coronas (Cuban) which go really well with a glass of Cruzon Rum made locally (St. Croix, U.S.V.I.).

I'm planning tonight on having a Nicarao. I'm interested to see how it's going to smoke. I've heard good things. Tomorrow is my last day at work so I've got to do it up right! I'm pulling out a Romeo y Julieta Maduro, so chocolatey smooth! I can't wait! All the cigarette smokers take a dozne 10 minute breaks through out the day so I figure it isn't out of bounds to step outside and enjoy a good cigar for an hour. It isn't like I'll have any work to do, am I right? 
hell, last day? why are you even planning to work at all? thats the day you walk around and make fun of the people that still work there.
I fully plan on sitting by the front door with my cigar pointing and laughing at all the people that have to be away all summer long. Take this job and shove it!

That Cherrywood humidor sounds very nice, and for that kind of money you've got a humidor that may out live you. :wink:
In the beginning, what I really enjoyed (other than smoking them) was opening up the humidor and inhaling all that lovely fermenting tobacco. I'd pull out a drawer (in those days I stored "stronger sticks" in the bottom) and get a real whiff of "da bomb". I still enjoy doing it.
I've smoked a few of those Romeo y Julieta Maduros. They taste just the way you describe them.

I truly hope it lasts! I've gotten all sentimental about it, I'd hate for it to go down the tubes.
I actually heard somewhere, I forget where now, that the kinds of flavors you enjoy are the kinds of cigars you are drawn to. My boyfriend loves spicy food and goes crazy for a good spicy cigar. Like just about every other woman in the world, I'm crazy about chocolate so the RyJ Mad really does it for me. At the same time it's really smooth and chocolatey, it wasn't too sweet. A really effortless smoke with a thick creamy smoke and a nice oily wrapper. I definately can't wait until tomorrow! If I had more than one on hand I'd be inclined to have one tonight!

Today I smoked a Cien Anos Churchill. Third from the box, and the lowest scoring one of the bunch! I've had it in my work humidor for a month and out of the original box....Could have something to do with it...Not in Cello either. Still a great cigar.

just had a camacho havana, a tall glass of cab, and watched the masters. haven't been this relaxed in quite a while.

In my day- 1960's in College- I would have gotten drunk for a week with my Dad had a got a B.
Beer was $3.85 a case.
Gas was $.25 a gallon- yes 25 cents. Cigaretes were 25 cents per pack. Tuition to University of Maryland per semester was $ 300. Books $150 per semester,Room & Board $ 300 per semester.
Just an older guy venting.

Since you've obviously invested alot of money and time in cigars and humidors, and you obviously enjoy very much, it sounds like you will have a long and enjoyable career as a cigar aficionada. IMO, variety is the spice of life and sampling a wide number of cigar products (ocassionally buying a box that is just too good to pass up) is something I continue to do to this day. I certainly hope you do.
I think my father-in-law bought me a humidor to get me out of his. Before I met him, I would burn a stick once in a while, but the variety of smokes he had, the smell from his cigar cabinet and style he used in selecting, cutting, lighting and then smoking, I'd never thought about or known. He is European (French) and there is a way to do everything -- a mystique. When he comes for a visit , the first thing he does is greet my wife and our children (it sounds like a french football team discussing plays). Then, he heads straight for my office in the back of the house and inspects my humidors and cigar cabinet. If everything is as it should be (and I mean everything :roll: ), he smiles, cuts two cigars, we light up and he explains a bit more of the elan history of cigars.
If I could make a suggestion: read on this forum the "Sunday Morning Smoke" hosted by Vince and Bloofington. There's a wealth of knowledge, humor and style in those posts. I would recommend starting on page 1 (it's up to page 14 now).
