Brothers Coffee Beans - My mistake

Well, the other day I was low on coffee and was in the local Publix Market (not a speciality market) and so I bought some Brothers Coffee Beans (Arabica Breakfast Blend.) Mistake! No real flavor. Sorta like "neutral mud." What experience are others having with Brothers coffee? :?:

Best coffee I have ever had.

http://www.communitycoffee.com/ccc/ The Medium Roast is the best stuff ever! No bad aftertaste like with the instant or pre-ground coffees you get at Publix, Bruno's, etc. Smooth, rich, and just plain tasty! Though I have not had it, I have heard that the darker roasts can be...

    Need a new grinder

I am looking for a new grinder. Since I have a few 'spice' grinders(blade Brauns) I would like a hand burr grinder. Since a blade grinder beats the coffee over and over, a burr grinder grinds it, and drops it as soon as it is ground to the correct size. Yes, blades kill the coffee, SO What hand...

Time For A SERIOUS DISCUSSION About Tsunami Effects. . . .

Okay, it's not as though I'm an authority like some of my friends from "another web site" that I used to inhabit, but I can get this party started. By the way, if any of you are interested in "meeting" some of those folks, log on to http://www.cigarwise.com. Yes, I know it's primarily about...

    Great Coffee Formula

Some of the older shoes, may know this one. I believe it's about 1880 circa, less the coffee maker & filter. Back then, (I understand).. they just dropped the eggshells into the bottom of the coffee pots...

Coffee Press, Freedom Press Method of Coffee brewing

Coffee press, or freedom press as Bloof would call it is an interesting way to make coffee. I had tried one years ago (one time) and did not understand the need for a coarser consistant grind. Now, thanks to Castle Crest I am home roasting and grinding with a "burr" grinder so after hearing...

Cream and sugar or straight up

I noticed that people at the office drink a lot of coffee, some use cream / milk / creamer and sweetners and others just poor it and its good to go. I am a cream and sugar guy in my brew, but others at the office think right out of the pot is the best and only way to drink it. Some of them...

    New Roaster Has Arrived

My new IRoast came in this week and I am roasting my way to coffee happiness. The machine is so easy to use that it took all of the fears I had about bad roast/wasted beans away. If, I feel that a progam (either one of the two Presets, or one I program) is going to long I hit the cool button and...

And for the answer to the question . . .

about the five and one quarter ounces of home roasted coffee that Castle Crest sent me, contained in the post on Cigars forum, it was Cuban Crystal Mountain. It had an amazingly aromatic quality, an overwhelming sweetness, and after grinding gave off an intriguingly untypical aroma...

I ordered a large "dark roast" at the well known coffee house just 1.5 blocks from the homestead on Monday morning. Had not been to one of these joints in some time but what the heck i wasnt going to the office so i figured i would get some "good coffee"! I like it very sweet so after my 9...

Hanging Out With You Gents Is Expensive

Thanks to CastleCrest, Bloof, Fernando, and others on this board, I have in my search for the perfect cup of Java ordered a roaster and will have a go at the dark side of the process. Having moved to the country the only way I can get to see if fresh roasted is "the best cup of coffee ever" is...

Variety In Preparation - Peet's Major Dickason

I've recently had a very enlightening experience! Using one particular coffee, I've gotten a variety of tastes by using a variety of preparation methods. I bought a pound of Peet's Major Dickason beans last week. I was familiar with Peet's as a major roaster but had not heard of Major...

    Good Coffees?

Hello everyone. This is my first post outside the cigar realm, but I was wondering what some good coffees are. I ordered some Cafe Du Monde, their regular and french roast, but other than that, I am a little lost. I enjoy heavier bodied cigars so I would like something with some great flavor...

Did the hurricanes destroy Jamaican Blue Mountain Crop?

OK, now you've done it! I bought the Press Pot. I bought the burr grinder. I bought a small amount of Jamaican Blue Mountain what's-its-name Estate coffee. (I told the clerk I couldn't believe I was buying $40 a pound coffee.) I had it for breakfast this morning. Great stuff...

    OK, I've Taken The Plunge

OK, I've moved into the world of "speciality coffee" after a lifetime of Maxwell House and Folger's. I've sampled freshly ground Kona, a Jamaican Blue Mountain "blend," and Columbian Supremo decafe. The Kona seemed a little thin, even when I used more coffee than recommended. The...

Never walk away from the roaster!

A friend showed up and we stepped out of the room where I had some coffee beans from Hawaii roasting. Well I was only out of the room a few minutes. Smoke everwhere! Seems I let the roast go a little to long. Still was not charcoal, just very black and oily beans. i figured I'd give them a...
