Beer has to be one of Americas favorite beverages, right up there with Coke and Mountain Dew. And today, there is more variety avaialable then ever before.

So what are your personal favorites? What do you really enjoy and what is it about that beer that you think best?

I love a good Sam Adams lager. Goes good with lobster or a bloody rare rib-eye. Goes down smooth after a hard days work. It's great after kayaking on a hot summer day. It's good drinkin' when you're watching t.v. or listening to music, or surfing the forums.....

...off to the fridge.

Beer

Gents: I believe that Guinness Stout is the Necter of the Gods. But, there are really a lot of beers out there. And with the great number of "micro-brews", you have to say that we really have it pretty good. The micro-brews sort of make up for the loss of a lot of the beers that were bought out by the big guys.

Oh no... another Guinness fan.

Schmit! Where are you? We finally have someone on the board that can speak your language.

I really enjoy some of the microbrews from the pacific NW, specifically Alaskan Amber and Full Sail Ale (i think it's from the NW). I really like Guinness too, but when I order it at a restaurant it usually comes out with a crappy head and way too cold. :(

BTW, my wife got me a 1.5 liter bottle of Grolsch for Christmas and it even had the cool ass swingtop. :D

Grolsch

Grolsch is a Very great tasting beer. I don't have a chance to get it very often, but it is one of the better ones.

Okay fellers,
I haven't had a drop in over two years but I can tell you that I had my share, and being in the US Navy for three enlistments I got to taste hundreds of them. (making lip smacking sounds)
The wife and I even spent a few years making the stuff and won second and first place in two catagories at the local beer festival a while back.
The bottom line is I like lager, Yeungling Lager. It's good.

SInce I live in a little speck of a town all I can get are the more popular brands.

Newcastle
J.W. Dundee's
Samuel Adams

I tried the Guiness stout, but I'd rather drink a beer not have to cut it with a chainsaw.

Like RetiredSgt, I too believe that Guinness is the Necter of the Gods... and ask for it at every bar I go to (but, alas, usually to no avail).

However, there is one brew that IMO is even better then Guinness ~ Youngs Oatmeal Stout.

Took me sometime to get the name as I only remembered what the can looked like, but after a diligent Web search I found it. Hell even my wife and Fernando ("That looks like 3 day old coffee!") likes it.

Very difficult to find. Though most shy away from Stouts (the weak & faint of heart) I recommend everyone try this beer. Veeeeerrrrrrry smoooooooth, light oatmeal after taste. Ummmmmmmm!!!!

I went to the website for Young's Oatmeal Stout, wrote down their local distributors, made some calls and no one has the stuff! :banghead:

:bigidea: Once I find a distributor with it in inventory I may have to pull a Smokey & The Bandit and find someone with an 18 wheeler to haul it over here.

Is running large amounts of beer across state lines still a no-no?

Probably... You know your state would want a piece of the pie - as heavliy as alcohol taxed.

Wow!!! Another one of my favorite subjects. Let's see, last summer, my beer drinking season, I didn't, because of ongoing financial difficulties, but if I search the old brain I can come up with a partial list that I can add to over time.

Rogue Dead Guy Ale
Rogue Shakespeare Stout
Lion Stout - forget the brewery, but it's from Sri Lanka
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout
Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout
Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome
Duvel - Belgian
Fin Du Monde - Canadian
Maudite - Canadian
Trois Pistoles - Canadian
St. Sixtus - Belgian
Samichlaus - Austrian

and on, and on, and on . . .

Ahhhh yes Beer , one of the things that God gave us to make us happy so said Ben Franklin, make my Beer dark, thick,& tasty, I want liquid bread , not Ice cold but not warm , Good Head ( who can find any fault with that ? ) & NO bad aftertaste, some beers taste great but have this "taste " after you finish drinking, I want Ambrosia , not skunk piss, lets all pop a top , pull a cork or snap a top off a long neck, & drink to long life ,good health, good friends & cigars !
