A comparison of sorts

Funny, but I have never tried Orkney Scotch. I rarely see it here in the stores or bars, maybe a distribution thing. I'll try and keep a sharper eye out for it.... (sounds like I AM kissing a cactus, eh? ) :p

I have seen a Pride of Orkney Pure Malt Scotch Whisky rated before. Just don't see it out here.

Now Highland Park I have tried.... just not enough to add it to my regulars list. I have heard great things about the 25 year old stuff. Never tried it though.

"I have seen a Pride of Orkney Pure Malt Scotch Whisky..."

It's my understanding that any such "Pride of" and those type of private bottled representations of regions and islands are obviously blends of whisky from the said location.

Being a representation of Orkney I think it's safe to assume that what is in the bottle is Highland Park. There could be Scapa too, but I don't believe that one is in operation any more, and these regional representative bottles are usually very young (that's why they cost under 30.00).

I think it's equally safe to assume that a Pride of Skye would have to be Talisker since there is no other distiller on the Isle of Skye.

My head is spinning. I'm going back to the rum. Wake me up when it's five degrees with a 12 mile per hour wind gusting to 25, and pour me some rye.

Are you sure you want Rye? how about some single malt, it seams to go better with bad weather, , & better with good weather as I have remembered ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince
