I received a nice chunk of change back from Uncle Sam this week, so I paid off some bills and treated myself to a box of 10 Partagas Serie P No. 2s and a box of 15 PSD4s.

What about you guys? Anybody else treat themselves to some nice cigars?

I don't pay taxes. Not like Willie Nelson, I just have no visible income.

But yes, I bought a few boxes at the last two events I went to.

i got my federal. paid bills.
all of my state return is going to cigars. I do have to wait till im all moved (and im just starting to pack)

... could be a while

We got a refund this year, but it had to go to "more serious" expendatures! Crap!

Wolfy is one of those young kids who doesn't have many bills...I guess!

I got my refund a while ago, and used it up to pay bills.

Almost forgot to add, wifey spent the rest.

All of my taxes went to bills and cedit cards. I was able to finally pay off the wifes school loans. Those sucked.

But with my bonus from work I was able to score some nice sticks.

What is this "state income tax" of which you speak? Texas legislators instinctively understand that what awaits them, should they pass such a thing, is lead thru the head.

Pay taxes.... !huh?

Yeah, its this fun thing that you get to do when you get out of school and have a real 40 hour a week job. I'm lucky, I have two jobs so I can pay twice. :D

Refund?.....What's that?

Oh, you mean the chunk of money that I BRIEFLY saw in my account?

Yeah........I have a daughter, brother......where do you think it went?

Honestly, I think personnel serving in the armed forces should have some kind of tax relief. Hell man, these men and women are serving to protect OUR country and democracy and government, and yet they have to PAY back in taxes? Dumb. /rant

Refund...what refund. they changed the way we get paid at work thid year - I owed THEM money, as if the 8 grand I paid already wasn't enough.

Couldn't agree more, Doc. People in the military should not have to pay ANY federal taxes. They're willing to take bullets for us, and we have the nerve to say, "Thanks. That'll be three thousand bucks."

I don't think it would work to exempt military personnel from ALL federal taxes- you'd have very wealthy people pursuing officer's commissions to avoid their capital gains taxes.

I do think it's silly for the federal gov't to hand an employee money with one hand and ask for it back with the other. Removing military (and civil service) salary from income tax calculation would be a great way to give an effective raise to the people who serve us day in and day out.

I think they just ment on their pay checks. I totally agree that military should not have to pay taxes on their pay checks.

As to the taxes we with hold too much. This year we took our tax returned and spent it on a shed 12x28. 12x20 is an enclosed building the other 8 is like a car port for the ATVs. Well the tax return only paid for half and I have to pay for the other half with my GI school money.

Plan that I need to impliment is not to have any with holding, but to send the same percentage to a money market where I can eran interest. This way I will have plenty for the quarterly payments, earn interest, and will still have a large "tax return".
