Anyone Run?

totally understand that bob. I hate treadmills. I am not much of a hamster. As for your shinsplints you may be running in the wrong kind of shoes. Why don't you try to go to a running certified store and see if they can recommend shoes to you. I used to get shin splints all the time then went to a place called roadrunnersports and they recommended shoes for me and I don't get aches and pains anymore. Great stuff.

Thats awesome that you were able to get fitted. I actually am a saucony guy myself. Funny thing is I just got brand knew running shoes and the day after I broke my big toe. Sucks. So what do you smoke bobberrific? Are you a 5 vegas guy? I am actually smoking through a sampler I got from cigar.com thats all the 5 vegas line and I really am impressed so far. Lets just say I have had some extra time sitting on my butt smoking cigars since I cant roam around right now. Its actually very nice. I have free sick days from work. Nice stuff.

Bob, shin splints suck and are hard to get rid of without resting. I had shin splints pretty bad when I first started running. Just be aware of how much you run and how fast you run and you can keep the pain at bay. Good on ya for running, it is a great sport.

emeisner, sorry to hear about your toe injury. Nothing worse than being forced to not run. It has been a while since I last posted to this thread. 2007 was a great year for me, running-wise. I did 3 half-marathons and a full marathon. I worked a lot this past year on my speed. I have gone from running a 10 minute mile to running around the low 8's, high 7's....very excited about that. I have an ultra-marathon in early March coming up (31.1 miles). After that, since I'm on the west coast I want to run Big Sur Marathon...right on the coast, so cool. Good to hear from all you runners out there. Keep up the miles!

Yeah. It sucks but I think it has made me appreciate running even more. I have never heard of the Big Sur event before but it looks lovely. My wife and I have been looking into the rock n roll half marathon in San Jose this year. I think that will ROCK. But I think I will have to look more into the Big Sur event. I will probably only run the half but it sounds great. I never have ran that far before in my life. The most I have ever run at once is 5 miles. But I am going to start training here pretty soon(after my toe gets better) and start competing in Half's.

i had to dig this up because recently started running agin. I used to run for soccer in highschool. When i stopped running a number of years ago i was running on average 9 miles a day depending on the day. my "short" day was 6 miles and my long was 14.

now (7 years later) my long day is 3.2 and my short is 1.8

...and now my ankles hurt. NO PAIN NO GAIN!!

on that note im off for a run (today is my long day)

I have been having ankle problems because of my work for years and I take Osteo-Bioflex Tripple strength every morning. I can see a noticeable difference when I take the medicine and when I don't.

i don't run- can't - doctor says the exertion is bad for my heart- however, i do walk a couple of miles every day- mostly up hill, as the route has a saddle in it, and both ends end in elevation
