Chicago Herf/Sitdown August 27th

Dont be offended. Smoka does not have internet access at home so he does not post on the weekends. The weekends are typically a little bit slower on the board for that reason. A lot of guys do this during little breaks during work.

Believe me we would love to have you at the sit down. It is great getting people to one of the best cigar friendly cities in the country.

thanks for the welcome guys...(sorry, didnt mean to be a dick or anything) my classes start on the 29th so i'll most likely be able to make it. Smoka, are you talkin about the cigar lounge @ Sullivan's Steakhouse? If so, I'm actually going to make my first trip w. the gf there tomorrow night followed by a visit to Up Down (1st time as well) Also, just outta curiousity, are any of the Chicagoland ppl here members of the Chicago Cigar Connoisseurs? If so, would you recommend it? Thanks guys.
 
I have not heard of this group. Honestly I find some of these groups to be just trying to network and they are not really into cigars. Thor and I have been talking about starting a group here in Chicago for the die hard cigar types. Get a locker at sullivans etc. It would be nice if there were some local guys. Something we should consider if there is enough interest. I definately would want to make it a little more exclusive.

Also, watch out for up down. They tac on almost 20% at the register as their prices dont reflect the taxes. Something the neglect to mention as the help pack up your cigars.
 
thanks for the heads up Macallan. Are there any cigar shops in the Chicagoland area that you can recommend? The only one I've been to so faris 8 to 8 in Villa Park and they have been really accomodating. Also, where exactly are you from? I don't live in the burbs but have a place in Hinsdale so if you and smoka and any other Chicagoland ppl wanna randomly get together, I'm game.
Also, great idea on the cigar club, I'd def. be interested, maybe something to chat about at the herf.

rdesantos... most shops in Chicago pull the same tax at the register BS. If you are near skokie you might check out Cigar King. There are a good group of guys that hang out up there. 8 to 8 is also a great shop. Once you hit the city there are small shops with high prices and no places to smoke in them.

Now if you are looking for bar none the best shop in the chicagoland area, no one beats Cigary in Wilmette on the north shore. Bob and Aaron Ash are by far the some of the greates folks in this industry. I highly recommend these guys. They waive the extra tax if you buy a box.

I live in Wrigleyville however last night I just signed a 9 month lease for a new gut rehap apartment in the southport corridor :D I cant wait to move in. It is temporary until they finish my condo in evanston. However, when I moved to Chicago I lived in Lincoln Park and that was my favorite place I have ever lived. Great area only a lot of yuppies. We cant win them all.

the herf is on a saturday. Shake the drive from where you are is a little less than 5 hours
