Anyone heard of tour vacations to Honduras, Nicaragua, The Dominican, etc. with the main attraction being cigars?? Seeing the factories and tobacco fields would be very interesting and educational, and, of course, allot of inexpensive smoking!!

My local tobacconist also works for Rocky Patel in distribution, so I had the opportunity to go to Honduras with him and some of the local guys in October. Damn midterm exams are on the same days though! Grrr...

smoka posted some info about a trip, so when he gets back maybe he can post it again or you might be able to find it back a few pages.

He actually did a really good writeup on one such trip in the first issue of the newsletter.

Yes Caribe Imported Cigar http://www.caribeimportedcigar.com is opening up their factory to the public for the first time in January. Previously it was only open to tobaconists. Thor and I went in January and it was amazing to see the camacho factory. It is a 4 day trip. You pay airfare only and they pick your group up at the airport and show you all the ins and outs of cigar making. While there they take care of all of your food, drinks, and cigars. It will be a hell of a deal. If you go to the homepage on cigar.com you can get to the newsletter area and read thors article about his trip in the first issue.

Caribe is also putting together a trip to Cancoon in October. It wont be in a cigar field but they are taking over a nice big section of a 5 star hotel for 3 nights. It is an all you can smoke vacation package to an all inclusive resort put together for cigar lovers to come together. Really a spectacular thing. It is not all that expensive either. If you go with a friend it comes to roughly 600.00 a person for everything including room and air.

If you are wanting to hit the cancoon trip, make sure you book through cigar.com or thor. I know he and Cory are planing on going this year.

For more information about any of these trips email [email protected] or PM thor.

I've heard of Cigar Cruizes, don't have any info?

Also there is a cigar bus put on by Maca-don'tdoit.
That drives around to a bunch of places.

I have been to the tasting classes at Davidoffs.
Their master blender teaches about tobacco and training your
palatte. Well worth going to!

Thanks guys!!!! A trip to the Camacho factory would be great! They are opening the factory to the public Jan 06?? How does one get info on the trip?

my buddy went to cuba in highschool, checked out the ryj factory...
$15 a box!!!

i would give both my arms for a hookup like that

Hoppy- The trips to "Camp Camacho" opened to consumers 05, not 06. You could just sign up at http://www.camachocigars.com , or send an email for information on the next trip. I don't see the old ad for the trips, but they seem to be running a contest to win a few trips to the factory in Honduras.
I have been fortunate to make that trip twice now, and it is a great time. I highly recommend anyone who is serious about cigars to attend a real factory tour. Not just a trip to CT to see a field of Broadleaf. 8)
